We are looking for an experienced SAP IS-U Utilities Consultant with strong expertise in either FICA (Financial Contract Accounting) or Device Management (DM/EDM) to support critical meter-to-cash, billing, metering, and financial processes within the energy and utilities sector.

The role requires deep functional knowledge of SAP IS-U, strong understanding of utility business processes, and the ability to work effectively in an offshore delivery model. Candidates with hands-on experience in power generation, power distribution, energy, metering, or utilities environments will be well suited to the role.

The consultant will work closely with onshore stakeholders, SAP functional teams, technical teams, and business users to deliver enhancements, production support, troubleshooting, testing, and continuous process improvements.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end functional support for SAP IS-U FICA and/or Device Management, including configuration, enhancements, and production support.
• Configure and support FICA processes including account determination, dunning, payment processing, clarification processing, interest calculation, returns, reversals, and payment runs.
• Manage FICA master data and financial objects including contract accounts, business partners, and FICA documents.
• Support incoming and outgoing payments, payment lots, bank statement processing, invoicing, budget billing, and account maintenance.
• Support FICA integration with IS-U Billing, Device Management, FI/CO, and FI-GL.
• Manage Device Management processes including device installation, removal, replacement, technical master data, device categories, and installation structures.
• Configure and support meter reading units, meter reading orders, scheduling, upload/download, validation, estimation, and plausibility processing.
• Support register-based, interval, and AMI/smart meter data processing, including MDUS/MDM integrations where applicable.
• Support integration between Device Management, Billing, Rate Determination, and FICA.
• Analyze and resolve production incidents and perform root-cause analysis for recurring issues.
• Prepare functional specifications for custom developments, including BAPIs, user exits, and enhancements, and coordinate with ABAP teams.
• Support mass activities, background jobs, performance tuning, patches, upgrades, and system enhancements.
• Participate in unit testing, integration testing, UAT, regression testing, and production validation.
• Support regulatory, statutory, billing, metering, and reporting requirements relevant to energy and utility operations.
• Collaborate with Billing, MDM, FI, Device Management, technical, and business teams to resolve cross-functional issues.
• Maintain functional documentation, configuration records, process guides, and knowledge repositories.
• Provide knowledge transfer and mentoring to junior consultants and team members.
• Coordinate effectively with onshore stakeholders and ensure adherence to SLA, ITIL, and offshore delivery processes.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• 10+ years of overall SAP experience, with approximately 6–8+ years of hands-on experience in SAP IS-U FICA and/or Device Management.
• Strong functional expertise in either SAP IS-U FICA or SAP IS-U DM/EDM; experience across both areas is an advantage.
• Prior experience in power generation, power distribution, energy, metering, or utilities is highly desirable.
• For FICA: strong knowledge of account determination, dunning, payment processing, clarification, interest calculation, mass activities, and FI-GL integration.
• For Device Management: strong knowledge of installation structures, device categories, meter reading units, MRO processing, reading results, estimation, and plausibility checks.
• Good understanding of IS-U Billing, Rate Determination, Device Management, FICA, and meter-to-cash processes.
• Experience with AMI, smart metering, interval data, MDUS, or MDM systems is an advantage.
• Experience with incident and problem-management platforms such as ServiceNow or SAP Solution Manager.
• Strong understanding of background jobs, mass processing, performance optimization, and production support.
• Exposure to S/4HANA Utilities, SAP BRIM, Convergent Invoicing/Charging, or modern utility architecturesis preferred.
• SAP IS-U or FICA certification is an advantage.
• Experience supporting global energy and utility clients is desirable.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills with the ability to work effectively across onshore and offshore teams.
• Strong documentation, presentation, knowledge-transfer, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities and support requirements.
• Strong understanding of ITIL-based support processes, SLAs, and enterprise application operations.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
