Job Summary:
Leads and supports the residential new construction estimations function, including plan takeoffs, design coordination, bid preparation, pricing accuracy, workload planning, and related administrative processes. This position is responsible for managing estimation quality, timeliness, consistency, and team performance through coaching, training, process improvement, and cross-functional coordination with sales, operations, purchasing, and leadership.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing the estimations team in Dallas, including all aspects of residential new construction design support, plan takeoffs, job bidding, and estimate preparation.
- Provides leadership, training, and coaching to ensure optimal performance of the estimations team.
- Establishes estimating standards, workflows, timelines, and quality-control processes to ensure accurate and consistent bids.
- Reviews estimates, scopes, drawings, specifications, labor assumptions, material selections, and pricing inputs for completeness and accuracy.
- Prioritizes team workload and assigns estimating resources to meet bid deadlines and internal service-level expectations.
- Coordinates with sales, operations, purchasing, and leadership to clarify scope, resolve estimating questions, and support timely quote delivery.
- Provides regular performance updates to senior management regarding estimating volume, turnaround time, accuracy, backlog, and process improvement opportunities.
- Promptly addresses performance, quality, training, or process issues within the estimations team.
- Supports resolution of escalated estimating, scope, pricing, or design-related questions.
- Ensures estimate files, bid documentation, assumptions, revisions, and supporting materials are complete, organized, and maintained according to company standards.
- Accurately and promptly completes required reports and related documents.
- Monitors department capacity, tools, software, templates, and estimating resources to support team productivity.
- Maintains effective communication with internal partners to ensure estimating expectations, priorities, policies, procedures, and programs are clearly understood.
- Ensures team promptly completes all required training.
- Continually searches for opportunities to improve estimating accuracy, turnaround time, documentation quality, and overall department effectiveness.
- Follows all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to safety.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- 5+ years of estimating, design, project coordination, or related construction/HVAC experience
- 3+ years’ experience leading, training, or coordinating productive teams
- High school diploma or GED
- Computer competency is required, including experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Familiarity with ERP or related computer software
- Knowledge or aptitude to understand HVAC systems and processes
- Ability to manage projects and resources
- Must be able to communicate in English effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Valid driver's license required
Preferred Qualifications:
- College degree
- 5+ years of estimating experience within a construction/HVAC or residential new construction environment

Working Conditions:
- Open office environment
- May be exposed to construction environments involving equipment, elevated work areas, confined spaces, noise, dust, hazardous materials and odors
- Fast-paced environment
- Travel by vehicle to and from work locations
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift/move up to 20 pounds frequently
- Frequently performs tasks requiring bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching
- Must be able to drive and operate a motorized passenger vehicle or forklift
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, masks/respirators, reflective safety vests, gloves and safety toe, construction-grade work boots
- Must be able to adhere to long periods of standing, walking or sitting
- Ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and/or other sounds to operate phones or other equipment safely.
- With natural or corrected vision, able to see and focus for close, distance, peripheral vision with normal depth perception
- Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to others
- Ability to enter text or data into a computer by means of a traditional keyboard or 10-key numeric keypad
- Must be able to use arms and hands to reach overhead, signal, grab, hold, lift, turn, push and pull objects and tools
