The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The Risk & Resilience Manager supports the execution and continued maturation of the organization’s enterprise risk management (ERM) program. This role helps maintain risk frameworks, facilitate risk assessments, monitor emerging risks, support issues and mitigation tracking, and prepare risk reporting for management and governance forums. The role serves as a collaborative risk partner across business areas, translating risk data, external intelligence, and stakeholder input into clear insights that support informed decision-making and effective oversight. The role contributes to the development and consistent application of ERM methodologies, procedures, tools, and reporting practices while helping provide enterprise visibility into key risks, emerging themes, controls, and mitigation activities.

 

Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Supporting the maintenance and enhancement of the enterprise risk management framework, including risk taxonomy, assessment methodology, governance routines, tools, and reporting processes.
• Assisting in planning, coordinating, and executing risk assessments, including gathering relevant information, documenting assessment results, and tracking mitigation or remediation actions.
• Partnering with risk owners, business stakeholders, compliance teams, audit partners, and other enterprise functions to identify, evaluate, monitor, and report risks across the organization.
• Analyzing risk data, external developments, emerging trends, control information, and key risk indicators to identify themes, potential issues, and changes in the risk environment.
• Maintaining accurate and timely risk information in the organization’s governance, risk, and compliance system or other designated risk management tools.
• Preparing risk reporting materials, dashboards, summaries, and management updates that translate complex risk information into clear, actionable insights.
• Tracking risk mitigation plans, management responses, issue remediation activities, and related evidence to support effective follow-up and governance oversight.
• Supporting the development of monitoring routines, escalation criteria, risk driver metrics, and reporting practices that strengthen visibility into enterprise and operational risks.
• Implementing and maintaining risk and resilience technologies.
• Supporting the development and maintenance of Business Resilience Plans.
• Performing other risk management duties, special projects, and program initiatives as assigned based on business needs.

 

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in risk management, Business, Finance, Business Continuity, Compliance, Economics, or a administration field (completed and verified prior to start)
• Five (5) years of experience in enterprise risk management, operational risk management, intelligence analysis, crisis management, controls, regulatory compliance, business governance, or a related risk function in a private, public, government or military environment.
  

 

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Experience with ERM, operational risk, geopolitical analysis, control monitoring, market and trade analysis, horizon scanning, or emerging risk identification.
• Experience using or implementing governance, risk, and compliance platforms.
• Knowledge of risk management frameworks, control standards, governance processes, and regulatory expectations.
• Experience developing risk taxonomies, key risk indicators, dashboards, metrics, or executive-level reporting materials.
• Project management experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing, material science, or laboratory environment.
• Professional certification in risk management, business continuity, audit, compliance, finance, or related discipline is a plus.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to explain risk concepts clearly to stakeholders at multiple levels.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions, build effective working relationships, and influence outcomes without direct authority.
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, follow through on action items, and work independently in a dynamic environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, AI, SharePoint, and comfort working with data, reporting, dashboards, and risk management systems.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize information, identify patterns, evaluate risks, and develop practical recommendations.

Work location:

• This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Headquarters in Saint Paul, MN.

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic or international

Relocation: May be authorized
