About the role
We're looking for an experienced Risk Manager to support the Chief Risk Officer in the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of the Company's Risk Management Framework. As a senior member of the Second Line of Defence, the Risk Manager will play a key role in ensuring that risks are identified, assessed, managed, monitored, and reported in line with the Company's risk appetite, strategic objectives, and regulatory obligations. The role also serves as deputy to the CRO when required, providing leadership and oversight across the risk management function.
T212 is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland as a Payment Institution, and the successful candidate will help ensure the Company maintains a robust and effective risk management framework that supports sustainable growth and regulatory compliance.
What you'll do
Support the CRO in developing and maintaining the Risk Management Framework for the effective management of all risks across T212 MIE, including the Company’s safeguarding arrangements, outsourcing, and financial crime.
Own day-to-day maintenance of underlying risk policies, ensuring annual review cycles are met.
Design, own, and maintain the Outsourcing policy and related risk assessment methodology, ensuring the Outsourcing RMF aligns with regulatory requirements.
Overseeing and testing outsourcing arrangements’ effectiveness and the ongoing monitoring as performed by the T212 MIE’s relevant functional owner(s).
Independently assess whether a proposed arrangement is "critical or important"; challenge concentration risk; sub-outsourcing chains; and exit strategy adequacy.
Prepare risk appetite recommendations and risk position reporting to the Executive Committee relevant Risk committees; and other stakeholders.
Support the calculation of T212 MIE's own funds requirement under Article 9 of PSD2.
Ensure adequate and appropriate key risk control frameworks are in place for each Key Risk.
Support the CRO in the Company's interaction with the CBI and other regulators.
Ensure significant control failures or limit breaches are escalated to the appropriate person(s) without delay and track remediation of issues identified in risk-related reviews.
Provide independent challenge to business divisions and functions on strategy and risk-taking activity, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and managed within approved risk appetite.
Independently review and challenge proposals made by business areas, supporting the CRO's oversight role.
What you need to have
Risk management experience within a regulated financial services firm, ideally a payment institution, e-money institution, or bank.
Strong working knowledge of the Three Lines of Defence model and second-line risk oversight.
Practical experience with Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) methodology; risk appetite frameworks; and incident management frameworks.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to independently challenge business leaders.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to Board-level and committee audiences.
Direct experience with PSD2 and EMD2 regulatory requirements, including own funds calculation methodologies (Method A, B, C, and/or D).
Experience with safeguarding arrangements for client funds in a payment institution context.
Experience deputising for or supporting a CRO in a regulated entity.
Relevant professional qualification, risk management, internal audit, accountancy, legal, or compliance-related certification).
