About the role
We’re looking for an ambitious and experienced Retail Manager to join our fabulous, newly appointed Global Travel Retail team. The successful candidate will help drive the Charlotte Tilbury business in stores whilst building and nurturing strong Retailer partnerships to deliver industry-leading financial results. They will identify new commercial opportunities and negotiate best-in-class reciprocal support to maintain a strong brand position within the market and bring the Tilbury magic to life in stores and online.
This is a highly visible field-based role requiring regular travel across the region, including approximately one day per week in Dublin and a further two days per week across other key locations. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment and enjoy spending time in-store, supporting teams, building retailer relationships, and ensuring excellence in execution across the business.
As a critical part of the Global Travel Retail team, this role will lead a defined regional team comprising store-based Business Managers and Retail Artists, through which it will be their responsibility to ensure that Charlotte Tilbury provides a consistent magical customer experience across the Travel Retail estate. The Retail Manager will demonstrate inspirational retail team leadership alongside strong commercial acumen, striving for optimal resource and cost management, showcasing strong budget management capability, and being confident in retail sales forecasting, reporting and data analysis.
Lastly, they will strive to exceed all Key Performance Indicators, including retail targets, footfall versus conversion, and overall commercial performance
As a Retail Manager you will
Sales Delivery & Execution of Brand Strategy through Best-in-Class Relationships
- Define development & growth strategy with the Head of Travel Retail for the UK & ROI and implement successfully in your region/stores.
- Deliver sell out in line with forecast commitments. Produce & track against store level forecasts to support financial business commitments.
- Deliver regular business/sales updates & critical market insight, acting as the connection between our stores and Magic office.
- Build strong relationship with Retailer contacts to optimise brand presence, maximise share of voice and negotiate industry leading joint trading plans. Identify and capitalise on opportunities to drive brand awareness, performance, and market share across the region.
- Work in close collaboration with the Head of Travel Retail, Sales Executive & Travel Retail Marketing & VM teams to develop, launch and sustain plans for all stores and NPD with ultimate goal to ensure all Charlotte Tilbury Beauty counters reach #1 makeup & beauty rankings across all stores.
- Work with local market to maximise local investments and drive omnichannel sales, managing possible conflict between retail partners.
- Lead quarterly business reviews & half year external strategy meetings producing strong insight and action driven 360 plans.
High Performance Teams
- Recruit high performing Retail teams for every store launch.
- Lead and inspire your team of Business Managers, ensuring each manager has clear objectives & SMART KPIs in line with the sprint appraisal process & our business goals.
- Manage time effectively between the Magic office and regular store visits supported by regular dialogue with BMs to ensure weekly and monthly deliverables are clear and monitored with agility.
- Lead initiatives and actively encourage action plans to address performance and engagement needs identified from employee engagement survey, building an environment of inclusion and motivation within your defined area.
- Work with the Retail People Partner of the region to support you in the delivery of your people plan, which will be drafted in collaboration with the Field Training Manager. People plan to cover (but not limited to), skills gap analysis, development pathways and succession planning, capability upskill and recruitment (focusing on the store management population) across the region.
- Work alongside the Field Training Manager to ensure commercial and development training needs are met within the region.
Effective Commercial & Budget Management
- Support Head of Travel Retail UK & ROI in the forecasting of all revenue budget cycles for your network of stores (monthly retail forecasting by store).
- Forecast and manage all retail staffing, consolidating with finance and retailer partners on a monthly basis.
- Track and recommend FTE levels across all stores to maximise financial investments, working closely with store retail partners.
- Manage the in-store payroll budget for your area, submitting and course correcting dependent on trading patterns at each forecast cycle, ensuring close alignment with key retailer stakeholders.
- Review and approval of commission submissions for your area.
- Manage T&E budget, staying within approved monthly expenditure.
Who you will work with
- You will report into the Head of Travel Retail UK & ROI.
- You will work closely with Marketing teams and Sales Executive on assortment optimisation. Drive OSA with support of Sales Executive, working closely with Charlotte Tilbury Customer Supply Chain team and relevant retailer contacts.
- Work with the Retail Operations to ensure communication with the field is effective and timely, ensuring collaborative alignment on all necessary trading plans & activities.
About you
- Must be able to travel within region and to Magic Office regularly. Roughly a 50/50 split
- Significant experience in Retail Sales Management, with direct experience in Travel Retail desirable but not mandatory
- Strong people focus, team spirited and passionate about developing teams
- Proven track record of successful negotiations & ability to influence others
- Target-focused and results-driven
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Effective communicator, both written and verbal with a structured and organised approach
- Excellent presentation skills and classroom delivery
- Personable and approachable, able to build rapport quickly & effectively
- Self-starter, able to motivate oneself and others
- Comfortable working in ambiguity, fast pace & high growth. Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing priorities. Agility is key!
