Position Overview

Shaw Industries, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway company, is seeking motivated and driven students to join our Residential Sales Internship Program. This immersive 6–8-week summer internship provides rising college seniors with hands-on exposure to the residential flooring industry, sales process, and business operations.

At Shaw, we believe in developing talent through real-world experience. Interns will spend time at our Corporate Headquarters in Dalton, Georgia, participating in onboarding, product training, professional development, and selling skills development. Throughout the program, interns will also travel to markets across the United States to shadow Territory Managers, engage with customers, and gain firsthand experience in residential sales.

The internship is designed to provide exposure to multiple aspects of our business, including sales, operations, customer relationships, and product knowledge. Interns will develop an understanding of how these functions work together to deliver value to customers while gaining insight into Shaw's culture, business strategy, and career opportunities.

This program offers a unique opportunity to build professional skills, explore career interests, and gain meaningful business experience that complements classroom learning.

Responsibilities

• Travel with Territory Managers and other sales leaders in the market
• Gain knowledge of Shaw's residential flooring products, including carpet and hard surface solutions
• Participate in customer visits, sales meetings, and relationship-building activities with retail partners and distributors
• Network with Shaw associates across multiple business functions
• Assist with product displays and product knowledge sessions
• Develop an understanding of the residential sales process and customer lifecycle
• Learn how sales, operations, marketing, and customer service work together to support business growth
• Gain exposure to territory planning, account management, and business development strategies

Qualifications

• Rising college senior pursuing a degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and professionalism
• Interest in sales, customer relationship management, and business development
• Ability and willingness to travel throughout the internship program
