POSITION SUMMARY

The Regional Terminal Manager reports to the Director of Operations and oversees oversized home shipments from all home building facilities within the region, leading a staff of four team members and approximately 200 toter and pilot vehicle operators. This role is accountable for overall terminal performance, including driver operations, dispatch execution, safety outcomes, customer experience, and financial performance, and leads Driver Supervisors, Safety, and terminal staff to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient delivery. Responsibilities include but are not limited to scheduling/permitting, operator training, hiring, payroll, maintenance, incident investigations, risk management, budgeting, and maintaining FMCSA compliance requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Own end-to-end terminal performance, including delivery execution, utilization, and service levels; drive on-time delivery and resolve operational disruptions
  • Oversight of transportation equipment and personnel, including staffing, utilization, and workforce planning
  • Lead weekly rapid-fire reviews with leadership to drive accountability and performance improvement
  • Ensure alignment between dispatch, driver supervisors, and field execution
  • Lead hiring and participate actively in the interview and selection process for drivers and terminal staff
  • Drive early tenure retention and driver reliability
  • Hold leaders accountable for performance management, including coaching, discipline, and termination decisions
  • Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Regulations
  • Oversee LYTX (telematics) performance and ensure coaching and corrective actions are executed
  • Conducts investigations to determine the root-cause for any incidents within the region; analyze, follow-up, and close action items, and retrain regionally for all vehicle accidents involving company personnel and/or equipment
  • Familiarity with shipment options, legal issues, government regulations, and safety procedures is required, as is knowledge of geography, mathematics, and computer applications
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures, ensuring consistent execution of company policies, processes, and expectations
  • Manage personnel activities and schedules and oversee shipment coordination and routing
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, or new prevention measures
  • Report operational statistics to Senior Management
  • Own terminal financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management; oversee operational costs, productivity, and documentation to improve profitability
  • Resolve customer issues, escalations, problems, and complaints to protect service, relationships, and satisfaction
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support business development and growth opportunities
  • Partner with the Regional Safety Managers, Safety Lead, and Corporate in reviewing/analyzing safety and operational functionality and developing future strategies
  • Maintain a working knowledge on all FMCSA regulations and state specific regulations by reviewing pending and upcoming changes by the DOT
  • Ensure the Region is prepared for all future compliance requirements
  • Lead and develop Driver Supervisors and terminal staff, driving accountability for operational, safety, and performance outcomes

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College Degree in Business or Logistics preferred; a combination of formal education and progressive field experience will be considered, with CDL-based experience highly valued
  • 5+ years of proven leadership experience in Logistics/Transportation/terminal operations management
  • Strong understanding of CDL-based operations and driver workforce management
  • Understanding of FMCSA Compliance and safety management systems
  • Experience managing operational and financial performance, including P&L responsibility
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
  • Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities
  • Proven ability to lead teams, drive accountability, and make critical business decisions
  • Ability to hold others accountable to Clayton standards on safety, compliance, and policy
  • Must have a positive attitude
  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment
  • Must be able to travel to home building facilities within the region (day trip) 20%-30% of the time
  • Proficient in Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Previous experience in OS/OW shipments or Mobile Home hauling
  • Previous permitting experience
