JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Re-entry Assistant provides support for all re-entry initiatives and provides guidance to students and participants, directing them to appropriate services and support, as needed. This position supports re-entry functions with answering the mainline, filing, typing, scheduling, photocopying, distributing mail, and assisting with Re-entry Center maintenance and upkeep.This announcement is open through October 1, 2026 at 11:59pm and will no longer be listed as of October 2, 2026.
- Performs duties to include answering telephone; greeting visitors and directing to appropriate areas and answering general 180 Re-entry Assistance Program questions.
- Maintains welcoming environment including building upkeep; assists with work orders.
- Distributes daily mail and updates bulletin boards weekly.
- Tracks communication from incarcerated population and maintains enrollment interest lists.
- Assists with pantry maintenance and general duties.
- Provides paper and electronic file updates including case noting and release verifications.
- Supports Computer Center activities with internet access support and monitoring usage.
- Provides support with basic needs acquisition to include public assistance applications, supportive documentation and transportation needs.
- Inputs noncredit worksheet data into online system, creates flyers and types forms.
- Assists with quarterly processes including enrollment, grade reporting and mailings.
- Participates in various events including, but not limited to: departmental meetings, completion ceremonies, and student appreciation events.
- Consistently and dependably attends work, activities, and functions as scheduled or assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The schedule is Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
This is an on-premise position located on the Fort Omaha Campus
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Effective verbal and written communications skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to use general office equipment including, but not limited to, telephone, computer, copier and scanner.
- Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills while working with a variety of personalities on a daily basis.
- Ability to communicate, effectively work and interact with a diverse population, various cultures and ethnicities.
- Skilled in maintaining accurate files and records while paying close attention to detail.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and, at times, with limited supervision.
- Knowledge and compliance of FERPA laws regarding confidentiality.
- Ability to maintain a cooperative, professional demeanor in stressful situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years of work-related experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.
- Must pass a background check.
