Quality Engineering Software Engineer, Senior

The Opportunity:

We build cyber software used by operators, analysts, and cyber experts. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll establish a new quality engineering approach for a production platform. You’ll own the testing strategy, framework, and tooling that engineers use to validate important product behavior and diagnose failures.

You’ll have substantial latitude to decide what should be tested, how deeply to validate it, and where unit, integration, and end-to-end testing provide the strongest signal. The goal is not maximum coverage. The goal is a testing approach engineers trust, can use in daily development, and can extend over time.

What You'll Work On:

• Define a testing strategy around important product behavior and the impact of failures, choosing where unit, integration, and end-to-end tests provide the most useful evidence.
• Design and build a maintainable testing framework and reusable Python tooling using established testing libraries.
• Integrate automated checks into CI/CD workflows and keep feedback fast and reliable enough for daily development.
• Create representative test data, reproducible test environments, and diagnostics that help engineers reproduce failures and distinguish product defects from test, data, or environment problems.
• Report what was validated, what failed, and where meaningful gaps remain so engineers have a clear view of product quality.
• Establish testing patterns that other engineers can use and extend through code reviews, worked examples, and documentation of key technical decisions.

You Have:

• 4+ years of experience with professional software engineering including building, shipping, or supporting production software, developer tools, or test infrastructure
• 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining software with Python, including reusable tooling, automation, or backend services
• 2+ years of experience designing or building automated test frameworks or test infrastructure used by other engineers, including selecting appropriate unit, integration, or end-to-end testing approaches and integrating automated checks into CI/CD workflows
• 2+ years of experience testing and debugging software across services, APIs, databases, data workflows, or production systems, including translating requirements or failure scenarios into automated validation and working with Docker or reproducible environments
• 2+ years of experience owning a software engineering workstream from design through implementation and adoption, including making technical tradeoffs and reviewing code
• Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Systems

Nice If You Have:

• Experience establishing a new testing approach for an existing production application
• Experience building frontend applications with React or TypeScript, or developing browser-based automation for complex user workflows
• Experience building or testing applications on AWS or a comparable cloud platform
• Experience using production telemetry, incident analysis, or exploratory testing to identify quality risks that automated checks missed
• Experience building or testing software for mission-focused environments such as cyber operations, cyber defense, or security analytics

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,900.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
