This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. This temporary position is located at 4312 District Drive Raleigh, NC 27607 -- Wake County, with the Department of Health and Human Services - Public Health.

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $39.47 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

This position will:

• Be focused on new and updated methods for pathogens associated with the impacts of hurricanes
• Support the Lead Public Health Scientist and will help oversee project timelines and aid in validation/verification
• Aid in implementation of novel modern assays and workflows
• Aid in integration of instrument platforms focused on scalability of existing methods across the laboratory
• Aid in training of existing staff on novel methods and workflows
• *This position would also participate in surge testing should the need arise

Minimum Education and Experience

Doctoral degree in molecular biology, medical genetics, microbiology, immunology, analytical chemistry, or a related laboratory field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of clinical laboratory or research experience; or Master's degree in molecular biology, medical genetics, microbiology, immunology, analytical chemistry, or a related laboratory field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of clinical laboratory or research experience; or Bachelor's degree in degree in molecular biology, medical genetics, microbiology, immunology, analytical chemistry, or a related laboratory field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of clinical laboratory or research experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
