Project Manager II

Position Summary:

• Shift: M-F 8am-5pm

• 100% Onsite

Catalent’s Philadelphia, Pennsylvania site serves as the company’s North American Center of Excellence for clinical supply packaging, delivering comprehensive, end‑to‑end support for global clinical trials across multiple therapeutic modalities. The site provides integrated services including direct comparator sourcing, blinding and manufacturing, primary and secondary packaging, storage and distribution, and clinical returns management, enabling efficient and compliant trial execution. It also plays a growing role in supporting biologic as well as cell and gene therapy programs, with enhanced cold‑chain and cryogenic handling capabilities designed to meet the complex requirements of advanced therapies. As a critical hub within Catalent’s global clinical supply network, the Philadelphia site helps sponsors accelerate development timelines while maintaining the highest standards of quality, flexibility, and regulatory compliance.

We have an opportunity for a Project Manager II to join our team. This role will lead customer programs from contract award through production, lifecycle management, and closure. The position involves managing multiple complex projects, ensuring financial performance, and maintaining strong customer relationships. The Project Manager II will collaborate across departments to deliver high‑quality results while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and quality standards.

The Role

• Serve as the primary customer contact and program lead, managing projects from contract award through production, lifecycle management, and closure.
• Oversee multiple complex programs simultaneously, including timelines, budgets, risks, customer communications, and escalation management.
• Drive financial performance by managing contracts, forecasts, revenue, invoicing, profitability, and identifying growth opportunities.
• Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, and Planning teams to align forecasts, capacity planning, inventory strategies, and production readiness.
• Lead cross-functional teams across Project Management, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, and Business Development to deliver customer commitments.
• Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Documentation Practice (GDP), and regulatory requirements while managing risks, investigations, Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs), change controls, and quality-related activities.
• Mentor project management staff, promote continuous improvement, and maintain accurate project data using business systems such as JDE, Workfront, TrackWise, Power BI, and Microsoft Dynamics.

The Candidate

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Science, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education (for example, high school or General Educational Development), industry experience, and demonstrated project management expertise will be considered.
• Minimum 2+ years of project management experience in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)-regulated environment.
• Experience managing clinical or commercial packaging and distribution projects.
• Experience managing strategic customer relationships strongly preferred.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.
• Professional Project Management Qualification preferred.

Preferred Skills & Background

• Experience in pharmaceutical, Contract Research Organization (CRO), clinical, or hospital environments; not specific to packaging or manufacturing.
• Scope and planning: Managed project scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
• Risk management: Skilled in identifying and mitigating risks.
• Cross-functional coordination: Experienced in leading across functional teams.
• Quality assurance: Understanding of Quality Assurance (QA) responsibilities and working in a regulated environment.
• Stakeholder engagement: Clear, consistent communication with internal teams, external vendors, and regulators.
• Leadership: Ability to motivate and guide multidisciplinary teams, resolve conflicts, and adapt leadership style to project needs.
• Documentation and organization: Maintain comprehensive project records, Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) logs, and regulatory filings.
