Position Summary
The Project Manager 1 – Telecom plans, coordinates, and manages telecommunications projects while building strong client relationships. This role works with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and to Pape-Dawson's quality standards.
Essential Functions
- Manage fiber and telecommunications design projects, including Long Haul, Middle Mile, FTTH, FTTx, cable landings, and ILA.
- Coordinate OSP, GIS, surveying, and civil engineering teams and subconsultants.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality, and deliverables.
- Maintain project documentation, schedules, status reports, permits, and design records.
- Identify project risks and develop solutions to maintain successful delivery.
- Monitor project financials, budgets, forecasting, invoicing, and consultant costs.
- Communicate effectively with clients, project teams, consultants, and other stakeholders.
- Support business development through client relationships, proposals, project estimates, and pursuit activities.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to project team members.
Position Requirements
Experience
- 6+ years of civil and/or telecommunications design experience, preferably with fiber-optic infrastructure.
- 1+ year of project management experience; telecommunications experience preferred.
- Experience with fiber design, OSP construction drawings, splicing plans, mapping, surveying, and utility design in public rights-of-way.
- Understanding of project budgets, financials, scheduling, and resource management.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects and priorities.
Skills
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to learn and take on increasing responsibility.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Telecommunications, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- P.E. license or ability to obtain licensure is a plus.
- PMP certification is a plus.
