JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Project Manager
Reports to: Sr Project Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Division: HPC
Department: Engineering
Locations: Waipahu
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Senior Project Manager, the Project Manager manages projects in support of the sales and delivery process of new engines. The Project Manager prepares and maintains cost proposals, submittals, and schedules for EPG, Industrial, and Marine markets. The Project Manager performs engineering analysis and designs custom packaged reciprocating engine systems using Caterpillar, Olympian, and other manufacturer’s application and installation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manages all generator/ATS projects.
- Maintains and manages all Project Manager related responsibilities ensuring the highest efficiency and productivity.
- Assists Senior Project Managers or the Engineering Manager or takes the lead on Switchgear and other complex projects.
- Is familiar with Paralleling Switchgear theory.
- Coordinates with suppliers on startups and commissioning.
- Coordinates deliveries and attends site deliveries verifying all equipment is delivered including aux equipment such as neoprene pads.
- Develops deliverables to include O&Ms, Test Plans, Test Reports, Installation Packages, and Training Agendas.
- Is proficient with Specifications and Plans to ensure compliance with all deliverables and commissioning.
- Attends both internal and external meetings concerning projects and takes effective notes and minutes.
- Works closely with customers to ensure sufficient information and coordination is provided for smooth projects. Manages exceptional customer service in communication, support, and technical support.
- Reviews deliverables provided by Interns and Junior Project Managers.
- Meets deadlines and communicates needs clearly with team while also providing suggestions for improvements or solutions to departmental procedures and issues.
- Provides weekly updates to the Engineering Manager on project status.
- Manages and maintains Proofhub by managing status until project completion.
- Manages Interns and Junior Project Managers with Project Manager related responsibilities.
- Is proficient with Hawthorne provided equipment, including installation, wiring diagrams, and operations.
- Is proficient with Hawthorne CA websites to include iMacs, Proofhub, TMI, CSQ, SIS, PowerNet, etc.
- Works with Project Engineers and suppliers on scheduling any factory testing, as needed.
- Requires minimal oversight or support.
- Provides field support, including commissioning support, troubleshooting, and other technical related support on generators and ATS’.
- Understands customer hierarchy and contract reviews and requirements.
- Understands and can perform C32 and below startups.
- Understands ATS and Switchgear Modernization and Maintenance (Switchgear Level 1).
- Is proficient in Autocad.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or 5 years’ experience in power generation or construction preferred.
- Must have a valid Drivers License with a good driving record.
- Must have PC skills.
- Must have the ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must have the ability to communicate technical information as related to environmental permitting, electrical performance, and mechanical system installation and operation.
- Must have the ability to maintain a flexible attitude and approach towards assignments and successfully operate under ambiguous guidelines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Walking: Moves about on foot, often through uneven terrain or up and down stairs.
- Handling: Seizes, helps, or works with hands.
- Lifting: Raises or lowers miscellaneous paperwork.
- Reaching: Extends hands and arms in any direction.
- Stooping: Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
- Standing: Remains in standing position if required to perform various functions of the job.
- Climbing: In and out of equipment.
- Vision: Reads documents.
- Talking: Communicates by radio, phone, and in person.
- Sitting: Sits at desk and in equipment and vehicles for extended periods.
ENVIRONMENTAL:
- Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
- Temp/Weather: Works in an office environment with occasional outdoor and shop requirements with variations of temperature and weather.
- Exposure: Subject to foul odors, fumes, and harsh substances.
