Job Description Summary

As a member of the global Steam Turbine Requisition Engineering team, as Steam Turbine Project Engineering Manager (PEM) – Technical Leader, you will be an active contributor to the preparation and execution for complex Steam Turbine projects like for Capital Parts (in-kind replacements of casings and rotors), Upgrades, steam valve solutions as well as Engineering Studies.

You will provide technical leadership and interfaces with the Proposals Team, Project Manager, Customers, GE Product Management, Sourcing, and Engineering sub-contractors.
The Technical Leader for the Project Engineering Team leads high-impact Steam Turbine Upgrade Projects within the organization and supports initiatives for improvements and team development. This individual is recognized for their technical expertise working with Steam Turbines or other power generation fields.

The fleet to be covered ranges for industrial and nuclear steam turbines in the Americas to the global installed fossil fleet.

You will report to the global Steam Turbine Requisition Engineering Manager as part of the Steam Turbine Services organization within Gas Power Engineering.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

• Establish yourself as Project Engineering Manger to successfully deliver steam turbine projects in execution for Own Fleet Capital Parts and complex Upgrades, Engineering Studies and valve solutions. The fleet to be covered ranges from industrial and nuclear in the Americas as well the global fossil fleet.
• During project execution involve supporting functions (Engineering functions, Workshops, Supply Chain and Field Service) for a successful project setup with clear definition on deliverables, interfaces and timelines (Baseline Plan). Manage prioritization and possible escalation as deemed required.
• Apply tools (Propolis) and processes (OneEngineering) for effective management and to guarantee the on-time delivery for all Engineering tasks within the Project budget.
• Follow global standards and common processes to assure consistent quality delivered by a lean organization.
• Ensure compliance and product safety for all supplied components as our priority according to GEVernova’s SQDC
• Organize and lead Design Reviews during the project execution to ensure and maintain quality
• Drive innovation and support the lean methodology to improve constantly the way we work

• As a Technical Leader
  • Continuously improve processes and tools to enhance the efficiency of the Steam Turbine upgrades team. A mindset of continuous improvement is essential.
  • Monitor and improve the productivity of Steam Turbine upgrade projects. Ensure opportunities for margin accretion and track project costs using EAC (Estimate at Completion) metrics across the Steam Turbine upgrade project portfolio.
  • Standardize technical documentation and deliverable templates to accelerate the project lifecycle, ensuring the team spends less time on administration and more on high-value engineering solutions
  • Lead or participate lean activities (Kaizens or Value Stream Activities) to identify bottlenecks
  • Support the team’s groth and development: Conduct periodic audits of the team’s skill matrix to identify technical silos. Organize "Knowledge Transfer" workshops where senior engineers present on specific turbine modules
  • Proposal support (ITO) During the pre-bid stage, help the Manager review complex proposals to ensure the engineering hours and material costs are estimated accurately, reducing the likelihood of a project starting with a "margin gap."

For candidates applying to a Canadian-based position, the pay range for this position is between $[113,000] and $[188,000] CAD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: 15% annual

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or related field of study from an accredited college or university
• At least 5+ years of combined experience in mechanical engineering of turbomachinery or power plant components, technical field services, repairs, plant operations services, or a related technical function
• At least 5 years of experience in project execution activities ranging from typical transactional service business to complex upgrades
• Willing to travel regionally or globally up to 20% of the time .

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

 

 

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
