Position Overview 

The Production Supervisor III is responsible for leading and supervising production employees to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives. This role oversees day-to-day operations, assigns work, and drives accountability while fostering a culture of safety, engagement, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Production Supervisor III identifies and implements improvements in production methods, equipment utilization, operating procedures, and working conditions through employee engagement, active listening, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making. This position provides leadership, coaching, and business acumen to hourly production employees, helping them understand how their contributions impact operational performance and organizational success.

As a frontline leader, Production Supervisor III serves as a critical link between production employees and management. This role is accountable for delivering the highest-quality products, meeting customer expectations, achieving production targets, and contributing to the overall profitability of the business. The supervisor is expected to develop high-performing teams, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.

This position represents an important step in the leadership development pathway, requiring strong people leadership skills, operational expertise, and ownership of business results.

Essential Functions

  • Own the four (4) main metrics (safety, quality, delivery, productivity/people) - understand results & implement action plans to close gaps & meet targets​
  • Oversee a line or area within a department including responsibility for front line employees and leads Understand staffing needs; review nominal headcount and execute to plan; interview for open roles and make candidate selection decisions
  • Responsible for safety of team and safety compliance to include PPE adherence, safety policy adherence, conducting safety audits, correcting unsafe behaviors & conditions. Conducts incident investigation reports in partnership with EH&S
  • Conducts root cause analysis in partnership with Quality on defects, drives resolution; addresses repeat warranty issues; drives corrective actions around compliance findings
  • Conducts and leads Continuous Improvement efforts by using tools such as Andon, Spaghetti Diagrams Line Balancing; 5S, DMIAC, Root Cause Analysis etc. Identifies roadblocks and barriers encountered by work teams; pulls together and leads cross functional teams to address issues and execute actions needed
  • Drive accountability to policies and procedures; makes discretionary decisions that are guided by policies, procedures, and business plan
  • Manages performance issues; administers disciplinary actions and corrective actions, conducts performance evaluations for all employees
  • Resolves conflict within team and across teams; investigates routine personnel issues in partnership with HR
  • Creates action plans from Employee Opinion Survey results and drives execution of plans for area of responsibility
  • Manage timekeeping & absenteeism; update UKG; sign off on timecards; ensure compliance to start/stop times, breaktimes & mealtimes​
  • Understand and manage the production schedule and understand impact on other areas; communicate to internal customers any changes or deviations to schedule / plan​ and make action plans with support functions where needed
  • Work with leaders in upstream and downstream processes to achieve metrics - Partner with peers to resolve production and quality issues
  • Ensure development of team as part of succession and talent planning
  • Utilize tools such as MS Office applications, Shop Floor Manager, OBMS etc.  to execute daily responsibilities and project work
  • Manages cost, expense, and inventory control of material and supplies Typically spends 75% of time on the floor in direct supervision of daily production / 25% of time on administrative and project tasks

Required Qualifications  

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in the implementation of major operational changes, process improvements, and strategic initiatives
  • Strong emotional intelligence with the ability to positively influence peers, foster collaboration, and effectively lead and develop direct reports
  • Demonstrates a strong sense of urgency, accountability, and ownership in executing responsibilities while promoting the same behaviors within the team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and concisely across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to establish clear performance expectations, provide coaching and development, and support employees in achieving individual and team goals
  • Lead and actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing production performance data and operational metrics to identify opportunities and drive sustainable results
  • Provides timely, constructive, and balanced performance feedback, including recognition of achievements and coaching for performance improvement

Education, Certifications, & Experience

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience leading teams in a fast-paced manufacturing setting with a focus on safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement
  • Associate’s degree is required, bachelor’s degree highly preferred

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work a 10+ hour shift standing, bending, reaching
  • Moderate lifting, ability up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment, with exposure to temperatures that may exceed 100°F or fall below 10°F in certain production areas
  • Ability to work in a fiberglass dust environment and a fast paced, noisy environment
  • Flexibility to work beyond a standard 40-hour workweek as business needs require
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts, elevated or precarious work areas, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required in designated areas

The hiring range for this position is $70,600 - $101,800 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary based on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context. 

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.  This position is eligible to participate in Brunswick's comprehensive and high-quality benefits offerings, including medical, dental, vision, paid vacation, 401k (up to 4% match), Health Savings Account (with company contribution), well-being program, product purchase discounts and much more.
