Production Supervisor

Fixed term contract: start as soon as possible, 14-month fixed term contract.

Hours of work: Alternating Days shift (Week 1 06:00 to 14:00, Week 2 14:00 to 22:00).

Salary: £ 40,068.00 per annum (paid overtime as and when business requires).

Production Manager

Primary Purpose

The Production Supervisor is responsible for driving operational performance within their designated Production Area, ensuring the highest standards of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People management are achieved.

The role provides frontline leadership to production teams, ensuring operational targets are met, processes are consistently followed, and employees are developed, engaged, and supported to achieve both individual and business objectives. The Production Supervisor acts as the key link between operators, support functions, and management, driving performance through effective communication, problem solving, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Performance

• Drive daily performance against Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost KPIs.
• Monitor, review and communicate production performance through the daily management process.
• Coordinate labour, materials, equipment and skills to maximise production output.
• Ensure accurate and timely updates of production reporting systems, including DLP.
• Escalate and resolve operational issues by working closely with support functions.
• Support root cause investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
• Manage overtime planning in line with business requirements and provide actual versus plan reporting.

Leadership and Team Management

• Lead, coach and support production operators to achieve performance expectations.
• Build a highly engaged, flexible and capable workforce.
• Conduct regular one-to-one meetings and support the Workday performance review process.
• Foster strong working relationships across shifts and departments to ensure consistent communication and collaboration.
• Promote a positive working environment that encourages accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.

People Management

With support from HR, lead and manage activities including:

• Recruitment and onboarding
• Training and skills development
• Attendance and absence management
• Performance management
• Employee development
• Employee engagement initiatives

In addition:

• Ensure all employees comply with company policies, procedures and standards.
• Conduct investigations and support employee relations processes where required.
• Drive adherence to behavioural and operational expectations across the shift.

Training and Development

• Complete the Supervisory Excellence Programme and actively develop leadership capability.
• Support the identification, coordination and delivery of mandatory, technical and developmental training.
• Assist in building organisational capability through workforce development and succession planning.
• Promote cross-training and flexibility across production teams.

Continuous Improvement

• Actively participate in Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Support the deployment of new processes and best practices across the manufacturing function.
• Identify and implement improvement opportunities to enhance operational performance.
• Develop CI knowledge and skills, including exposure to Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
