Introduction

We are looking for an experienced Product Area Lead to join our Global Customer Data Management (GCDM) tribe within ING’s Chief Data Management Office (CDMO).

As Product Area Lead, you will be responsible for driving the delivery of our purpose by leading a product area focused on Party Onboarding & Customer In Life, Representation Management, and Data Lifecycle Management & Supporting Services. You will combine strategic leadership, operational excellence, and stakeholder management to ensure your area delivers value while contributing to ING’s ambition of becoming a truly data-driven organization.

The team

Within ING’s Chief Data Management Office (CDMO), data is at the heart of everything we do. We ensure the bank can rely on high-quality data for decision-making, reporting, analytics, modelling, and regulatory purposes by continuously improving data management practices, policies, and processes across ING.

You will join the Global Customer Data Management (GCDM) tribe, which delivers customer data services that are directly integrated into mobile, web, and assisted channels across ING Retail Banking, Business Banking, and Wholesale Banking. The tribe consists of approximately 160 colleagues located across multiple countries. As a member of the Tribe Leadership Team, you will work closely with the Tribe Lead and Banking Technology colleagues and will lead an area supported by a dedicated team, including a Chapter Lead.

Roles and responsibilities

As Product Area Lead, you will drive strategy, delivery, operational excellence, and people leadership within your area.

• Translate ING’s business strategy into a compelling vision and roadmap for your product area together with key consumers and stakeholders.
• Ensure squads focus on the right priorities and are organized and enabled for successful delivery.
• Drive the execution of a multi-year roadmap across Party Onboarding & Customer In Life, Representation Management, and Data Lifecycle Management.
• Strengthen ways of working within the area while acting as a role model for ING’s Orange Code.
• Manage and continuously improve operational processes to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
• Build strong and sustainable relationships with stakeholders across business, technology, and operational domains.
• Collaborate closely with the Tribe Lead, Tribe Leadership Team, and Banking Technology partners to deliver strategic objectives.
• Lead complex change initiatives across countries, cultures, and stakeholder groups.
• Develop a high-performing organization by providing leadership, direction, and people management.
• Contribute to the growth and success of both your area and the wider GCDM tribe.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Extensive senior management, delivery, or transformation leadership experience in complex international environments where multiple stakeholders and priorities must be aligned.
• A strong track record in delivery management, programme management, or customer-focused domains within banking or other large organizations.
• The ability to quickly understand complex topics and translate them into actionable long-term roadmaps and tangible outcomes.
• Experience leading large-scale change initiatives across countries, cultures, and organizational boundaries.
• Strong people leadership skills with a proven ability to build, develop, and inspire high-performing teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, enabling effective collaboration across business and technology teams.
• Passion, resilience, and perseverance to drive initiatives through challenges and deliver results.
• The flexibility to adapt your approach while remaining firm on key principles and strategic objectives.
• A continuous improvement mindset focused on operational excellence and sustainable delivery.
• Excellent communication skills in English; Dutch language skills are considered a plus.
