What You’ll Do

As the Procurement & Supply Chain Manager, you’ll lead procurement, material planning, inventory control, warehousing, and logistics for AP Emissions Technologies’ new Apex, NC facility. Reporting to the Plant General Manager, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the right materials are available at the right time to support the facility launch and ongoing production.

You’ll balance supplier performance, inventory, cost, quality, and delivery while leading a small team of hourly supply chain employees. This role will work closely with site leadership, production, engineering, quality, finance, and corporate procurement to build reliable supply chain processes and keep the operation moving.

Procurement & Supplier Management

• Lead site purchasing activities for direct and indirect materials, packaging, operating supplies, and services in line with approved budgets, corporate agreements, and delegated authority.

• Manage purchase orders, pricing, lead times, supplier selection, competitive bids, delivery commitments, corrective actions, and supply-risk escalation.

• Partner with corporate procurement and cross-functional teams to address supplier performance and supply risks.

Material Planning & Production Support

• Translate production schedules, forecasts, bills of material, inventory policies, and engineering changes into material requirements and replenishment plans.

• Maintain material availability for ceramic substrates, washcoat materials, precious-metal-related inputs, purchased components, packaging, and production supplies while minimizing shortages and excess inventory.

• Monitor MRP, open orders, demand changes, and constraints and develop recovery plans when issues arise.

• Support new product introductions through coordinated sourcing, lead-time planning, and supplier readiness.

Inventory, Warehouse & Logistics

• Oversee receiving, storage, material movement, point-of-use replenishment, inventory accuracy, cycle counting, finished-goods staging, and outbound shipments.

• Manage inventory and logistics performance through safety-stock reviews, cycle counting, obsolete-inventory controls, carrier coordination, expedite decisions, and accurate shipping documentation.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Execution

• Supervise, schedule, train, coach, and evaluate a small team of hourly employees supporting receiving, warehousing, material handling, inventory, and shipping.

• Set priorities, reinforce safe work practices and standard processes, and address performance concerns.

• Coordinate cross-functional resolution of material shortages, discrepancies, supplier issues, and delivery risks.

Systems, Controls & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain accurate item, supplier, purchasing, planning, lead-time, and inventory data in ERP and MRP systems.

• Track and report KPIs including material availability, supplier on-time delivery, purchase-price variance, inventory accuracy, inventory turns, premium freight, past-due orders, and schedule disruptions.

• Support ISO 9001 and applicable automotive quality-system requirements related to approved suppliers, purchasing controls, traceability, records, nonconforming material, and audit readiness.

• Identify and improve processes that reduce shortages, excess inventory, expedites, and freight costs.

What You’ll Need

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Logistics, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.

• 5+ years of manufacturing supply chain experience spanning procurement, planning, inventory, warehousing, and ERP/MRP systems preferred.

• 2+ years of experience in a lead or supervisory capacity preferred.

• Start-up or complex manufacturing experience is a plus.

• Relevant supply chain or procurement certifications are a plus.

Technical Knowledge

• Strong understanding of MRP and ERP processes, bills of material, purchase-order management, lead times, safety stock, cycle counting, and inventory accuracy.

• Working knowledge of supplier management, purchasing controls, logistics, and manufacturing material flows.

• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and automotive quality-system requirements is preferred.

Leadership & Communication

• Ability to set priorities, train and develop hourly employees, reinforce accountability, and build positive working relationships.

• Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to work effectively with suppliers and cross-functional teams.

• Ability to manage competing priorities, supplier disruptions, and ambiguity in a start-up manufacturing environment.
