Salary range: $116,035-$136,512The Department of Endocrinology at Albany Medical College is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join our busy and collaborative Community Endocrinology team. This position offers the opportunity to work in an environment that is 50% outpatient clinical practice and 50% research.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
Research duties:
Meet with clinical study patients (which includes innovative new therapies from pharmaceutical company sponsored trials) in obesity, thyroid disease, hypoparathyroidism, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia.
Participate in studies that will provide the clinician a "sneak peak" of the future of endocrinology. Previous studies include Mounjaro, Ozempic, Farxiga, Vascepa, and LP(a) therapies before they were on the market.
Complete visits of 1 hour per study patient or more in these innovative clinical trials.
Establish rapport with all study patients, which will be key to retaining these research patients to complete the clinical trials.
Clinical duties:
Perform comprehensive evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans for diabetes (type 1, type 2, gestational), thyroid disease, Initiate and manage insulin therapy, insulin pumps, and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) as well as other patient care within scope of work.
Provide diabetes self-management education and support
Coordinate care with specialists (endocrinology, OB, nephrology, cardiology) and primary care
Conduct patient assessments and complete physical examinations, collect clinical data including vital signs, collecting specimens, prepare patients for tests, therapy, or treatments, order and interpret medical laboratory test results, diagnose medical condition of patient, administer medications or treatments and perform minor surgery.
Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.

Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant degree program
Able to quickly master all aspects of a computerized medical recordkeeping and billing system.
Must project a professional image and earn the confidence of others.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
Must be HIPAA compliant at all times.
