The Research Administrator is responsible for the management of the research portfolio(s) for one or more laboratories with direction and moderate supervision from their supervisor. The Research Administrator works with a diverse set of funding types including federal, industry, foundation, donor, institutional, chargeback, and clinical trials. The Research Administrator collaborates with faculty and researchers on the preparation of sponsored research applications and/or the financial management of sponsored and institutional funds; and is responsible for identifying problems and working with supervisor to resolve where necessary. The Research Administrator is responsible for liaising with Institute central offices such as Research Finance, Accounts Payable, Research Administration, Special Funds, Grants and Contracts, the Clinical Trials Office, Office of General Counsel, and the Innovations Office.

• Serve as the primary resource for all Workday payroll accounting adjustments, entering and reviewing complex transactions with a focus on regulatory compliance and data integrity.

• Provide expert guidance, troubleshooting, and training to departmental staff across the institute, ensuring consistent practices and understanding of payroll reallocation processes.

• Collaborate with Payroll, HR, Finance, and Audit teams to resolve discrepancies, address audit findings, and maintain thorough, audit-ready documentation of all payroll adjustments.

• Lead or contribute to process improvement initiatives, including the development and implementation of standard operating procedures, process documentation, and training materials for Workday payroll data entry.

• Maintain up-to-date technical proficiency in Workday, adapting rapidly to new releases and evolving system requirements, and serving as a subject matter expert for upcoming features such as Payroll Accounting Reallocation.

• Support institutional compliance with federal, state, and sponsor regulations by ensuring payroll adjustments are handled accurately and efficiently, minimizing the risk of audit findings, salary default, or financial penalties.

• Act as the lead tester and institutional representative for new Workday payroll features and updates, coordinating training efforts and process changes across all departments as needed.
