The Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute (CBDI) at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center invites applications for a faculty position in Cellular and Immune Therapy at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. We seek an outstanding physician-scientist to develop or expand an independent research program focused on cellular or immune therapies for cancer. The successful candidate will have a primary appointment in the Division of Oncology and combine laboratory-based research with clinical activities. We seek investigators whose work connects mechanistic discovery with therapeutic development and clinical translation. Research focused on brain tumors and other CNS malignancies or myeloid malignancies will be prioritized, although outstanding candidates working in other cancers will also be considered.

Research Environment

This recruitment is integrated into the growth and expansion of cellular and immunotherapy translational research programs at Cincinnati Children’s. The candidate’s research program will be highly integrated with the Division of Experimental Hematology and Cancer Biology (EHCB) and CBDI, as well as the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center (UCCC). A major resource for this effort is the Applied Gene and Cell Therapy Center (AGCTC), which provides infrastructure to accelerate gene and cell therapies toward the clinic, including product development, GMP manufacturing, analytical development, quality control, and regulatory support in new start of the art facility spanning approximately 55,000 square feet. Investigators also have access to advanced capabilities in genomics, single-cell technologies, genome engineering, proteomics, computational biology, human biospecimens, and preclinical disease models. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative community spanning oncology, cancer biology, hematology, immunology, neuroscience, and gene and cell therapy. Together, these resources provide a strong environment for advancing discoveries from mechanistic studies through preclinical development and early-phase clinical investigation.

Candidate Profile

Applicants should have an MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent medical degree, with appropriate clinical training and board eligibility or certification relevant to pediatric oncology. We seek candidates conducting mechanistically rigorous research with a strong translational focus in cellular or immune therapy. Relevant areas include engineered T-cell, NK-cell, and other immune-cell therapies; tumor antigen and target discovery; immune engineering; tumor-immune interactions; and mechanisms of therapeutic response and resistance. Approaches designed to improve the efficacy, persistence, specificity, or safety of cellular and immune therapies are also of particular interest. Priority will be given to investigators applying these approaches to brain tumors/CNS malignancies or myeloid malignancies and to programs with a clear path from biological discovery to preclinical and clinical development.

Candidates at the Assistant Professor level should demonstrate an outstanding record of scientific accomplishment and strong potential to establish an independent, externally funded research program. Candidates at the Associate or Full Professor level should have an established record of impactful scholarship, extramural funding, mentorship, translational investigation, and scientific leadership.
