Provides comprehensive nutrition assessment and consultation for out-patients to support employee wellness initiatives. Addresses the nutritional issues that arise from chronic and life threatening medical conditions, provides pre- and post-surgical support, addresses weight concerns, provides dietary guidelines for food allergies and intolerances, and offers lifestyle change support related to nutrition and diet. Acts as the Clinic's liaison to the Retail area to ensure products are aligned with physician recommendations and keeps providers informed of new research related to clinical efficacy. Functions as part of an interdisciplinary integrative medicine team, participates in case conferencing, and stays abreast of research and best practice in the field of nutrition, medical foods and supplemental support. Teaches nutrition classes and workshops for the community and Sutter Health staff.Job Description:
The Nutritionist supports the Sutter Sync HF multidisciplinary model by assessing nutritional status, developing individualized nutrition plans, and addressing dietary factors that influence heart failure outcomes. This role owns the nutrition component of the joint frailty intervention and must be able to help build the program as it evolves, including creating scalable workflows, patient education, referral pathways, and team processes in a virtual care environment. The role requires adaptability, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to translate clinical nutrition expertise into practical operations while supporting sodium and fluid management, protein adequacy, cachexia and malnutrition risk, electrolyte coordination, food insecurity, and steroid-related dysglycemia risk in HF/COPD overlap patients.
This role is expected to be onsite at the Sutter Innovation Center at least 2 days per week
Nutritionist with experience with heart failure nutrition concepts, including sodium and fluid management, protein adequacy, cachexia/malnutrition risk, electrolyte considerations, and food insecurity are encouraged to apply.
EDUCATION:
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
Bachelor's: Degree in Nutrition or related field
Other: Professional training in clinical nutrition, including the interaction between diet, supplements, physiology and disease
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
CNC-Certified Nutrition Coach
OR RD-Registered Dietitian/RDN-Registered Dietitian Nutritionist
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
5 years of recent relevant experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Background in whole foods diets with strong knowledge of vitamins, supplements and herbal products.
Must have knowledge of the field of complementary medicine and be prepared to work toward the appropriate integration of its approaches with conventional medicine.
Must be able to work as a member of a dynamic integrative medicine team toward the highest quality service and patient outcomes.

Pay Range is $92,060.80 to $128,876.80 / annual salaryThe compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled.
