About the Role:
IEX is seeking a Network Engineer to join our growing team in Dublin, Ireland. In this role, you will help operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance the network infrastructure supporting IEX’s evolving business, including the continued expansion of our trading platforms and the launch of our options exchange.
This is a hands-on role well suited for a network engineer with strong networking fundamentals who enjoys troubleshooting, improving network reliability, and working closely with infrastructure teams. While experience supporting financial markets, exchanges, or low-latency environments is valuable, it is not required. We are looking for someone with a strong technical foundation who can learn our environment and grow with the team.
The Dublin team will also provide important operational coverage during the European morning, helping ensure our infrastructure is ready and operating effectively ahead of the U.S. trading day.
This position supports IEX and will be performed in Ireland. The successful candidate will be employed in Ireland by Rippling, acting as IEX’s employer of record and administering local payroll, benefits, tax, and employment compliance.
What You’ll Do:
- Operate, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot resilient, high-performance network infrastructure.
- Configure and maintain switches, routers, and firewalls from vendors such as Arista, Cisco, Juniper, and Fortinet.
- Support network deployments, upgrades, capacity planning, and performance improvements.
- Troubleshoot connectivity, routing, packet loss, and network performance issues.
- Use scripting and automation tools such as Python, Ansible, or similar technologies to improve network operations.
- Work closely with Network Engineers, Data Center Engineers, SREs, vendors, and other teams to resolve issues and maintain reliable infrastructure.
- Provide operational coverage during the European morning to support IEX’s U.S. infrastructure and trading operations.
Your Background:
- 5+ years of hands-on network engineering or network operations experience.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VRFs, STP, and routing and switching fundamentals.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting switches, routers, firewalls, and production network environments.
- Experience with network monitoring, troubleshooting, upgrades, and performance tuning.
- Exposure to Python, Ansible, or other network automation tools.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to take ownership of operational issues.
- Experience with multicast, low-latency/high-performance networks, cloud infrastructure, or financial markets technology is a plus, but not required.
Experience at an exchange, proprietary trading firm, or other electronic trading environment is not required.
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting annual base pay is between €80,000 and €110,000 for this Dublin, Ireland-based position. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The annual base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for bonus and equity.
