The Network Architect is responsible for the discovery, architecture, design, engineering, and implementation of Voyager's enterprise network infrastructure across corporate offices, engineering environments, manufacturing facilities, secure environments, newly acquired companies, and mission-support locations.

Reporting to the Director of Networking, this role serves as a senior technical authority responsible for translating business, cybersecurity, compliance, and operational requirements into secure, scalable, resilient, and supportable network solutions.

The Network Architect will work across the complete network lifecycle - from current-state discovery and assessment through target-state architecture, detailed engineering, implementation, migration, testing, documentation, and operational transition. The successful candidate will help establish repeatable enterprise standards while supporting the unique mission and technical requirements of Voyager's classified and non-classified distributed aerospace, defense, and space technology environments. This role will require a minimum of an active TS / Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility or TS/SCI upon hire

Responsibilities

Network Discovery & Assessment

  • Lead technical discovery and current-state assessments across Voyager facilities, newly acquired companies, and other environments being integrated into the enterprise.
  • Discover and document existing network topology, circuits, routing, switching, wireless, firewall boundaries, VPN connectivity, VLANs, IP addressing, segmentation, DNS/DHCP, network services, monitoring, and dependencies.
  • Identify undocumented infrastructure, architectural inconsistencies, single points of failure, capacity constraints, security concerns, technical debt, and lifecycle risks.
  • Develop current-state and target-state network diagrams, gap assessments, remediation plans, and migration recommendations.
  • Work with site personnel, engineering teams, cybersecurity, IT operations, vendors, carriers, and other stakeholders to establish an authoritative understanding of each environment.

Enterprise Network Architecture & Engineering

  • Design secure, scalable, highly available enterprise architectures for LAN, WAN, wireless, SD-WAN, internet edge, VPN, remote access, routing, switching, network segmentation, and related network services.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise network standards, reference architectures, engineering patterns, configuration standards, and technology roadmaps.
  • Produce high-level and low-level designs, logical and physical diagrams, implementation plans, bills of material, addressing strategies, VLAN/VRF designs, routing designs, and resiliency models.
  • Establish standardized architectural patterns that can be reused across Voyager while accommodating mission-specific and regulated-environment requirements.
  • Evaluate existing and emerging networking technologies and make technical recommendations based on capability, security, scalability, interoperability, lifecycle, and cost.

Network Build, Integration & Modernization

  • Provide hands-on engineering leadership during network builds, site activations, office expansions, technology refreshes, migrations, and acquisition integrations.
  • Design and support the transition of legacy or independently operated networks into Voyager enterprise architecture.
  • Develop migration strategies that minimize operational impact and provide clear rollback, validation, and acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate circuit provisioning, carrier connectivity, network hardware deployment, configuration, cutover, and testing.
  • Validate routing, redundancy, failover, segmentation, security policy enforcement, application connectivity, and overall network performance following implementation.
  • Help develop templates, automation, and repeatable deployment methods to improve the speed and consistency of network delivery.

Security, Compliance & Resilience

  • Partner closely with Cybersecurity to incorporate Zero Trust, network segmentation, access control, logging, secure remote access, and least-privilege principles into network architecture.
  • Design network solutions that support Voyager's CMMC, CUI, ITAR/EAR, government, and other applicable regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Support implementation of firewalls, VPN, network access control, security zones, enclave boundaries, segmentation, and network security monitoring.
  • Maintain architecture diagrams, design records, configuration standards, change documentation, and other technical evidence required to support audit and compliance activities.
  • Incorporate high availability, disaster recovery, business continuity, and operational resilience into network designs.

Technical Leadership & Operations

  • Serve as a senior escalation point for complex network engineering and architecture issues.
  • Lead or support root-cause analysis for significant network incidents and translate lessons learned into architectural or engineering improvements.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to Network Engineers and other infrastructure personnel without requiring direct personnel management.
  • Partner with Network Engineering, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Cloud, IT Operations, application teams, and business stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Work with vendors, managed service providers, telecommunications carriers, and technology partners on architecture, design, implementation, troubleshooting, and lifecycle planning.
  • Maintain accurate as-built documentation and diagrams and ensure completed projects transition cleanly into operational support.
