As an MRI Technologist at MUSC, you will be at the forefront of medical imaging, utilizing advanced MRI technology including 3T, mobile, and upright MRI scanners. At MUSC our MRI technologists have access to dedicated protocol support and system MRSO support every day. Working in a collaborative and patient centric environment, they play a critical role in the delivery of exceptional healthcare outcomes.

Job Description

Compensation & Incentives 

  • Sign-on bonus: $10,000 
  • Relocation assistance: Up to $5,000 for eligible candidates  
  • Shift Differentials: Weekend Day: up to $5.30/hr 
  • Additional pay: (call pay, overtime etc.) 

Shift Details:  

  • Schedule: Days, Nights, Weekends 
  • Hours: varies based on shift
  • Call requirements: One week rotation every 12/13 weeks
  • Holiday expectations: Rotating Schedule

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality MRI examinations on patients across all age groups, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Operate MRI equipment safely and efficiently to obtain diagnostic-quality images for physician interpretation.
  • Utilize all available MRI resources, protocols, and technology to ensure accurate and timely imaging services.
  • Prepare, position, and educate patients regarding MRI procedures to promote patient comfort and cooperation.
  • Adhere to established safety standards, infection control practices, and MRI-specific protocols.
  • Monitor patients throughout examinations and respond appropriately to patient needs and concerns.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with departmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to provide exceptional patient care.
  • Ensure proper care, maintenance, and quality control of MRI equipment and work areas.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental operations., and organizational policies and procedures.

Additional Job Description

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.

Experience: 0 to 2 years of modality specific work experience, at least 1 year of X-Ray experience preferred. 

Required Registration/Certification:

Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R), required.

Must be registered with the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT), if not registered must be obtained within 1 year in this position.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider

Examples include:

• To transfer a 100 lb. patient that cannot assist in the transfer requires 50 lbs. of force. For every 100

additional pounds, assistance will

be required from another healthcare worker.

• 20 lbs. of force is needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet.

• 25 lbs. of force is required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand.

Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. (Continuous) Ability to see and

recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate between

colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
