A Day in the Life

The Medical Affairs function within the U.S. Surgical organization generates and communicates scientific evidence, supports healthcare professional education, and enables the safe and effective use of Medtronic therapies. This team partners closely with Clinical Research, Medical Education, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, and commercial teams to support evidence-based decision making, market development initiatives, and customer engagement activities across the healthcare ecosystem.

This onsite role may be based at any US Medtronic campus location. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders, healthcare professionals, and external partners to execute medical affairs initiatives and meeting-related activities. Travel up to 10%is required to support meetings, events, and business needs.

         

         

As a Medical Affairs Specialist, you will support the execution of medical affairs strategies, educational programs, and market development activities for the U.S. Surgical organization. This role combines scientific engagement, operational execution, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure high-quality delivery of medical affairs initiatives while maintaining compliance with company policies and applicable industry regulations.

Primary Responsibilities

• Coordinate logistics, contracts, payment processing, budgeting, and vendor management for medical affairs meetings and events.
• Support the planning and execution of healthcare professional education programs, advisory boards, and scientific engagements.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of medical affairs plans aligned with organizational objectives.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of clinical evidence, scientific literature, and products within the U.S. Surgical portfolio.
• Gather and communicate competitive intelligence, market insights, and stakeholder feedback to internal partners.
• Collaborate with Clinical Research, Marketing, Regulatory Affairs, and other cross-functional teams to support evidence-based decision making.
• Ensure meeting activities, documentation, and engagements comply with company policies, industry standards, and applicable regulations.
• Track project milestones, budgets, and deliverables while providing status updates to stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience in medical affairs, clinical, scientific, healthcare, meeting planning, project coordination, or related business support roles OR Advanced degree with 0 years of experience.
• Experience coordinating projects, meetings, events, or cross-functional initiatives.
• Experience managing budgets, contracts, vendors, invoices, or payment processes.
• Experience working with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting Medical Affairs, Clinical Affairs, Medical Education, or Scientific Affairs functions.
• Knowledge of healthcare compliance requirements, healthcare professional engagements, and industry regulations.
• Experience coordinating advisory boards, investigator meetings, educational programs, or scientific events.
• Experience reviewing and summarizing scientific literature, clinical evidence, or competitive intelligence.
• Project management experience supporting multiple concurrent programs and stakeholders.
  

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$84,000.00 - $126,000.00

 

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
