Media Strategist

Position Overview
The Media Strategist partners with local and regional sales teams to design, optimize, and support integrated advertising solutions across linear TV, digital, OTT/CTV, and emerging platforms. This role blends data-driven strategy, client insight, and media expertise to drive revenue growth, improve campaign performance, and elevate the quality of sales proposals and executions.
The Media Strategist acts as a strategic extension of the sales team—translating client business objectives into effective media strategies that deliver measurable results while aligning with TEGNA’s audience reach, content strengths, and data capabilities.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Client Solutions
• Develop customized, insight-led media strategies aligned to advertiser goals, target audiences, and KPIs
• Translate client objectives into full-funnel, multi-platform campaign recommendations
• Support proposal development with clear narratives, audience insights, and performance rationale
• Ensure strategies align with TEGNA best practices, inventory availability, and pricing models
Sales Partnership & Enablement
• Collaborate closely with Account Executives, Sales Managers, and Directors of Sales
• Participate in client meetings and presentations as the strategic media expert
• Support new business pitches, RFPs, and renewals with compelling strategy and data
• Educate sales teams on platform capabilities, audience products, and evolving media trends
Data, Insights & Optimization
• Leverage first-party data, research tools, and third-party insights to inform strategy
• Analyze campaign performance and recommend optimizations or upsell opportunities
• Partner with analytics and fulfillment teams to ensure strategies are executed as intended
• Track performance trends to refine future recommendations and improve outcomes
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work with digital operations, traffic, research, and creative teams to ensure seamless execution
• Align with regional and corporate sales operations on tools, processes, and reporting standards
• Support adoption of new products, technologies, and go-to-market initiatives

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related field
• 3–6+ years of experience in media planning, media strategy, digital advertising, or broadcast sales support
• Strong understanding of linear TV, digital display/video, OTT/CTV, and cross-platform measurement
• Proven ability to translate data into actionable, client-ready insights
• Excellent presentation, storytelling, and collaboration skills
