Description

This position is responsible for maintenance and preventative maintenance on trucks and trailers while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. 

Tasks

Applicants will be considered for any Truck Shop Mechanic opening.  This position requires a current valid State driver’s license.  Must supply own tools for minimum maintenance.  Must be able to use basic electrical, pneumatic and hand tools.  Minimum 1 year basic mechanical or maintenance skills including PM on equipment, oil changes, greasing, repairing or replacing semi tires, brake repair or replacement on semi - trucks and trailers, and minimum 1 year experience operating cutting torch and electric welder.  May perform air brake, electrical and air conditioning work.  Must have ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders up to 20 feet, bend, stretch, reach, work in extreme hot, cold, inclement weather, and odors.  Must be able to read and understand assignments.  Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing.  Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.  If an applicant meets the minimum requirements for consideration, they may be contacted for an interview.

The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud

Requirements:

Must have six (6) months operator experience with one employer in the previous 12 - months. Three to five years related experience with at least three years in an industrial setting/relevant work experience. A High School Diploma or equivalent to include Technical or Vocational Diploma preferred, or combination of equivalent experience and education in a related field in lieu of a Dipolma.

Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.

Rehire Rule of no more than  3 times worked at Tyson Foods.
