Master’s Thesis Opportunity in Affinity Protein Engineering
Resin and Ligand Design is a department of approximately 110 employees within Resin Technology and Filtration R&D. The department develops chromatography resins and other consumables used in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
We are seeking a master’s student to complete a thesis project on the design and optimization of novel affinity ligands for chromatography. As part of our R&D organization, you will contribute to the development of innovative products used in the manufacture of leading biological medicines.
About the Project
The project focuses on identifying novel protein–protein interactions for the development of affinity chromatography ligands.
You will participate in the discovery and evaluation of protein-based ligand candidates, including their characterization and ranking. Phage display will be a central method in the project.
The experimental work will involve a range of techniques, including phage display, cloning, recombinant protein expression, protein purification (ÄKTA), SDS-PAGE, and surface plasmon resonance (SPR).
- Plan and carry out assigned tasks independently to achieve the project objectives.
- Troubleshoot experimental challenges and propose appropriate solutions.
- Document, analyze, and communicate results in both written and oral form.
- Perform all work in accordance with Cytiva policies and guidelines.
The thesis project will be conducted at our Solna site (Karolinska Institutet area). Details regarding the project period, preferred start date, application deadline, and contact persons will be provided in the final announcement.
