About the Role

The Market Research & Competitive Intelligence Manager will independently lead high-impact qualitative and quantitative market research and competitive intelligence initiatives that inform critical business decisions.

The Market Research & Intelligence (MR&I) team is a strategic thought partner that helps the business make smarter, faster decisions by translating customer, market, competitor, industry, and broader external signals into clear insights, strategic direction, risk awareness, and growth opportunities. The team combines primary market research, competitive and market intelligence, and AI-enabled research capabilities to help Resmed anticipate change, reduce uncertainty, and maintain a competitive advantage in a dynamic global market.

What You’ll do

As a Market Research & Competitive Intelligence Manager, you will partner with cross-functional leaders to translate business questions into rigorous research and intelligence approaches, synthesize evidence from multiple sources, and shape clear, objective recommendations for different stakeholders and business needs.

The role requires integrating insights across consumers, patients, physicians and other healthcare professionals, payers, customers, competitors, partners, and broader market forces. You will monitor current and emerging developments, connect disparate signals, distinguish meaningful change from market noise, and develop a well-supported point of view on what is changing, why it matters to Resmed, what remains uncertain, and what the business should consider next.

The ideal candidate combines deep market research expertise, strong investigative instincts, strategic business acumen, executive communication skills, and an experimental mindset toward AI and automation. The role will primarily support APAC - with emphasis on China and Japan and secondary support for Australia - while contributing to global MR&I priorities.

What You'll Bring

Market Research & Strategic Insights

• Independently lead end-to-end qualitative and quantitative market research projects from business-question definition through research design, vendor selection, questionnaire/discussion guide development, fieldwork, analysis, reporting, and executive presentation.
• Translate ambiguous business problems into clear research questions, hypotheses, methodologies, and decision-oriented learning plans in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Integrate perspectives from consumers, patients, physicians and other HCPs, payers, customers, channels, and other stakeholders to uncover behaviors, needs, perceptions, barriers, and opportunities.
• Interpret research findings and synthesize them into clear insights, implications, and strategic and tactical recommendations that enable action.

Market & Competitive Intelligence

• Create and maintain comprehensive industry, competitor, customer, and market analyses, including market share, growth projections, market forces, landscape evolution, and emerging risks and opportunities.
• Proactively monitor and investigate competitor activity and broader external developments across healthcare policy and reimbursement, regulatory change, economics and demographics, technology and AI, consumer behavior, channel evolution, partnerships, and other forces that may materially impact the sleep and respiratory markets.
• Leverage secondary research, financial and company information, industry publications, news, conferences, expert sources, and market intelligence platforms to develop objective, evidence-based analyses.
• Provide situational analysis and intelligence support for quarterly business reviews, new product launches, portfolio and brand initiatives, strategic planning, market and landscape mapping, and ad-hoc executive priorities.
• Prepare and/or oversee executive-ready intelligence briefs, presentations, landscape reviews, customized alerts, and other decision-support deliverables.

AI, Automation & MR&I Innovation

• Leverage generative AI and agentic workflows to automate intelligence gathering, monitoring, synthesis, and knowledge retrieval, while maintaining human validation and source traceability. 
• Develop and continuously improve AI-enabled intelligence systems, including prompts, watchlists, taxonomies, knowledge bases, and governance practices, in partnership with MR&I and technology teams. 

Strategic Partnership, Communication & Execution

• Act as a trusted thought partner to cross-functional stakeholders, building strong relationships and aligning research and intelligence priorities to business decisions.
• Craft and tailor recommendations for different stakeholder needs and levels of leadership, balancing analytical rigor with clear, concise storytelling.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Market Research, Business, Economics, a related business or technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of market research, market intelligence, insights, strategy, consulting, or related experience, with demonstrated ownership of complex projects from definition through recommendation.
• Strong business acumen, critical thinking, facilitation, executive communication, and data storytelling skills. 
• Ability to build trust quickly, work independently with stakeholders, and operate effectively in a cross-cultural, global environment.
• Advanced PowerPoint and Excel capabilities; experience with market intelligence platforms (such as AlphaSense) and survey/research platforms.

Preferred Experience

• Healthcare, medical devices, digital health, or adjacent industry experience.
• Familiarity with the healthcare landscape in China and Japan, with additional understanding of Australia preferred.
• Existing relationships with or experience managing Asian market research and intelligence firms.
• Bilingual Mandarin capability preferred; Japanese language capability is advantageous but not required.
