About the Role
The Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in the product lifecycle by owning the qualification of the manufacturing process to the required technical specifications, efficiency, and quality. This individual participates in the specification review, Tool Trial (TT), Engineering Build (EB), pilot production (PP) process, partnering with manufacture partners, YETI design engineers, quality engineers to create production part approval process (PPAP), and working with engineering, operations, test lab, and category management to ensure that manufacturing process are fully validated and ready for mass production.
What You'll Do
Oversee process validation during new product development, and optimization of manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
Partner with design and product development teams to integrate manufacturability considerations early in the design cycle. Provide DFM/DFA feedback to ensure smooth transitions from concept to production.
Collaborate with designers and suppliers to develop innovative, cost-effective, repeatable production processes.
Provide guidance on tooling, process validation, and quality expectations on the product performance.
Oversee and document different stages of trial runs per the qualification processes.
Oversee and document Engineering build, develop a robust production flow and meet DVP requirement.
Oversee and document Tool Trials, Manufacturing build, run products in mass production condition and meet PVP requirement, identify keep process parameters window and documenting.
Collaborate with quality engineer for PPAP approval and sign PSA (Production Start Approval) from ME aspect.
Work with manufacturing partners and YETI internal partners at production ramp up phase, deliver products at right time, and right quality.
Lead root cause analysis and complex failure investigations. Lead cross-functional task forces when urgent production challenges arise. Coordinate resources across departments to identify root causes and implement corrective actions and minimize downtime.
Sustain, improve, and validate processes using data-driven decisions.
Working with Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Program Management, clearly communicate technical requirements, expectations, standards and goal/strategies from different functional teams.
What You'll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred.
Greater than 5 years of manufacturing qualification, production development mechanical design experience, project management or quality experience is a plus.
Knowledge of metal manufacturing process, aluminum and stainless steel is preferred.
Knowledge of plastics injection.
Knowledge of the different finishes, especially on the power coating, anodizing and electronics polishing etc.
Must be able to review product designs by evaluating CAD designs and engineering drawings.
3D & 2D CAD literate (Solidworks etc.)
Experienced in problem solving methodology and statistic tools.
Lean production mindset and experience
GD&T drawing reading is preferred.
6σ certification preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and presentation/communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, etc.
