Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Manager Quality Engineering 2 to join our Quality and Mission Excellence (QME) team assigned to the Advanced Technology Labs (ATL) facilities in Linthicum, Maryland.

This position will report directly to the ATL Mission Assurance Manager, and the qualified candidate will lead a diverse and high-performing team of Quality Engineers and Analysts supporting all site operations and programs.

Positioned within the Mission Next (MNX) division, ATL is a DoD trusted foundry where we design, fabricate, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers, as well as emerging technology programs. With over 58,000 feet of wafer fabrication cleanrooms, ATL represents a unique capability, supporting a wide range of semiconductor technologies and devices (e.g. Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide, etc.) and providing leading edge technology development in super‐conducting electronics. Our devices are key enablers for a number of Northrop Grumman’s radar and space systems.

  • Regularly communicate program execution status and site quality metrics to a wide audience of professionals and leadership.
  • Drive compliance to AS9100D
  • Leverage metrics, customer, and program feedback to assess risks & opportunities.
  • Collaborate with customers and functional teams to ensure product/process compliance and strong delivery performance.
  • Provide manpower forecast plans for team
  • Drive affordability through monitoring of budget and spend
  • Conduct internal audit program and supports third party audit activities
  • Ensure correct and effective metrics are utilized to improve product compliance and quality performance across the facility.
  • Provide guidance to peers and management in the pursuit of quality excellence.
  • Proactively seek out familiarity with relevant technologies, products, and processes (both manufacturing and business)
  • Confidently drive efforts to resolve complex quality problems using sound problem-solving methodology – including through application of established root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action methods
  • Lead efforts to identify and reduce safety, quality, and business risks through application of formal and informal methods
  • Leads effort to reduce waste and improve processes through application of established continual improvement methods
  • Responsible for ATL Preventive & Corrective Action Board (PCAB)
  • Provide Program Quality support for Emerging Capabilities Development (ECD) division programs
  • Serve as a “strong voice for quality” and a role model for NG Values

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be onsite full-time
  • Possess solid written and verbal technical communication skills
  • Have strong interpersonal skills – including ability to establish and maintain positive working relationship team members, stakeholders, and customers at all levels

Basic Qualifications for the Quality Engineering Manager 2:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related STEM field and a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant work experience in engineering, manufacturing, quality or program management; OR six (6) years with Master’s Degree; or four (4) years with PhD
  • Experience leading projects or teams
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
  • US Citizenship Required.
  • Experience in the microelectronics industry
  • Experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading projects and/or teams
  • Experience working in quality, supply chain, program management, engineering, or manufacturing
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems (e.g. AS9100, ISO 9001, etc…)
  • Defense industry experience, including interface with government customers
  • Experience facilitating Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) activities
  • ASQ Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), Quality Engineer (CQE), and/or Quality Auditor (CQA)
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or Master Black Belt
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience briefing senior management
  • Extensive microelectronics experience with robust understanding of quality metrics related to microelectronics (e.g. yield, scrap, etc.)

Primary Level Salary Range: $127,100.00 - $190,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
