Role Definition

The Genset Test Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, maintenance, and continuous improvement of generator set (Genset) testing facilities, test cells, load banks, fuel systems, electrical infrastructure, automation systems, and supporting utilities. The role leads maintenance teams to achieve maximum equipment uptime, testing efficiency, safety, quality, and compliance while supporting production and product validation activities.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Management

• Lead all maintenance activities for genset testing facilities and supporting infrastructure.

• Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.

• Establish maintenance standards, procedures, and best practices.

• Monitor equipment health and reliability to achieve world-class uptime.

• Ensure rapid response and resolution of equipment breakdowns.

Genset Test Facility Maintenance

Responsible for maintenance and reliability of:

• Engine and Genset test cells

• Resistive and reactive load banks

• Fuel storage and distribution systems

• Cooling towers and radiator systems

• Exhaust extraction systems

• Ventilation and air handling systems

• Electrical distribution systems

• Switchgear, transformers, and UPS systems

• PLC, SCADA, and automation systems

• Data acquisition and monitoring systems

• Emissions and performance measurement equipment

• Instrumentation and sensors

Reliability & Continuous Improvement

• Implement Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).

• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of equipment failures.

• Drive Predictive Maintenance initiatives using:

o Vibration analysis

o Thermography

o Oil analysis

o Condition monitoring

• Lead downtime reduction projects.

• Improve test cell utilization and equipment effectiveness.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all EHS requirements.

• Maintain safe operation of high-voltage electrical systems.

• Implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

• Support ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 compliance.

• Ensure compliance with emissions, environmental, and testing regulations.

• Conduct safety audits and risk assessments.

Capital Projects & Facility Expansion

• Support new test cell installations and commissioning.

• Lead equipment upgrades and modernization projects.

• Participate in facility expansion and capacity enhancement initiatives.

• Define maintenance requirements during equipment procurement.

• Coordinate with OEMs, contractors, and suppliers.

Budget & Asset Management

• Develop and manage maintenance budgets.

• Optimize spare parts inventory and critical spare strategy.

• Manage Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs).

• Monitor maintenance costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.

• Develop equipment lifecycle and replacement plans.

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead maintenance engineers, supervisors, and technicians.

• Establish technical training and certification programs.

• Develop succession plans and high-performance teams.

• Drive a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

• Conduct performance reviews and employee development planning.

Educational Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering.

Preferred

• Certification in TPM, Reliability Engineering, Six Sigma, or Project Management.

Experience

Required

• 5-15 years of experience in maintenance, utilities, powertrain testing, power generation, or manufacturing environments.

• Experience in Genset testing facilities, engine testing, or power generation equipment.

Preferred

• Experience with diesel, gas, and hybrid generator systems.

• Exposure to high-capacity industrial power generation facilities.

• Greenfield and brownfield project experience.
