About This Opportunity
The Manager, Domestic Undergraduate Admissions is a key leadership role responsible for shaping the future of student access at UQ, leading domestic undergraduate and medicine admissions while driving evidence-based decision-making across a dynamic and high-impact portfolio. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will provide authoritative advice on complex admissions matters, strengthen reporting and governance, and ensure admissions services remain applicant-focused, consistent and compliant.
This is an opportunity to lead an experienced and collaborative team responsible for one of the University's most critical student-facing functions. You will oversee a high-volume admissions activity, work across a range of entry pathways, and contribute to expanding access to higher education for students from diverse backgrounds.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the timely, consistent and applicant-focused delivery of domestic undergraduate and medicine admissions, including complex cases and specialised entry pathways.
- Planning annual admissions cycles, operational readiness, workloads and service standards in partnership with relevant University areas and external admissions bodies.
- Strengthening admissions reporting, data quality and assurance to provide clear insights into volumes, outcomes, service performance, risks and emerging issues.
- Providing authoritative operational and policy advice to senior leaders, faculties, schools, committees and governance groups.
- Identifying and leading improvements to admissions services, systems, controls and end-to-end processes.
- Enabling the University of Queensland Strategic Plan, and its key initiatives, including The Queensland Commitment
- Leading, supporting and developing a team of admissions professionals, fostering a collaborative, inclusive and improvement-focused culture
About You
You will bring experience leading a complex admissions, student administration or comparable regulatory service function. This is a role for an established admissions leader who can demonstrate and apply initiative, deep expertise, exercise sound judgement and confidently lead a specialised function within a large and dynamic organisation
You will also demonstrate:
- Postgraduate qualifications, progress towards postgraduate qualifications with extensive relevant experience, extensive management expertise, or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience.
- Substantial experience in domestic undergraduate admissions, including selective, quota-managed or professionally regulated programs, or a similar regulatory service function.
- Demonstrated success leading operational programs, service improvements and organisational change across multiple stakeholder groups.
- The ability to interpret and integrate policy, operational considerations and data when providing strategic and operational advice.
- Strong people leadership and resource management capability, including managing competing priorities and sustaining service delivery during peak periods.
- Highly developed communication, consultation, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present complex findings, risks and recommendations clearly.
- A proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach, supported by integrity, fairness, sound judgement and respect for confidentiality.
