Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our urology practice. The LPN will provide direct patient care while supporting the clinical workflow through telephone triage, EMR management, care coordination, diagnostic testing, medication management, and provider support.
Essential Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Support
Provide safe, compassionate, and efficient nursing care to urology patients.
Obtain and document patient information, symptoms, and relevant clinical history as appropriate.
Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections in accordance with provider orders and applicable standards.
Insert, remove, and manage Foley catheters as directed and within scope of practice.
Collect, process, and appropriately document patient specimens, including voided and catheterized urine specimens and vaginal swabs.
Perform bladder instillations through Foley catheter when ordered.
Provide appropriate patient education regarding medications, procedures, testing, catheter care, and follow-up instructions.
Clinical Communication & Care Coordination
Answer and triage patient telephone calls, voicemails, and portal messages; assess reported symptoms within the LPN’s scope of practice and appropriately escalate clinical concerns to the provider.
Provide nursing guidance and patient education based on established clinical protocols and provider direction.
Accurately document patient communications, clinical assessments, interventions, and follow-up recommendations in the EMR.
Conduct post-operative and other clinical follow-up calls as directed.
Prepare and submit prior authorizations and required clinical documentation to insurance companies.
Process provider-approved prescription and medication orders and communicate with pharmacies and insurance companies as needed.
Coordinate paperwork and clinical documentation for home health services.
Clinical Operations
Ensure examination and procedure areas are appropriately stocked and prepared.
Follow established infection-control, safety, and clinical protocols.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with applicable HIPAA and organizational requirements.
Perform other clinical and operational duties within the scope of the position as assigned.
Qualifications
Current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of practice.
Previous urology experience preferred.
Experience with EMR systems and electronic clinical documentation.
Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
