The Litigation Operations ("LitOps") team sits at the heart of Keller Postman’s intense and interdisciplinary work.  Composed of former consultants, lawyers, and product managers, the team is the nexus between the firm’s litigators, technologists, and operations professionals.  We are responsible for understanding complex legal situations, translating them into concrete projects, and marshaling resources from across the firm to deliver them.   

By way of example, LitOps has developed tech products used by hundreds of thousands of clients, put innovative communication tools at the fingertips of our case management team, and built AI-enabled apps to turbocharge record-review and other key legal processes.  When Keller Postman delivers justice at scale, the LitOps team contributes the “scale” part. 

Role:   

The LitOps team is seeking an analytical, intellectually curious, conscientious, flexible, hardworking, collaborative, and self-motivated individual to serve as a Summer Associate to the LitOps team for 8-10 weeks in Summer 2027. This is a great opportunity for a JD/MBA student looking to pursue opportunities at the intersection of law, technology, and operations.  

Working across the firm’s functions, the LitOps summer associate will support and perform complex quantitative and qualitative analysis; assist in developing, building, and maintaining dashboards and other reporting; contribute to product development; coordinate large-scale communications campaigns, perform legal analysis and research, work closely with our attorneys, and more—all in the high-stakes, fast-paced environment of mass litigation.  

This position is in-office in either our Washington, D.C. or Chicago office. Compensation for this position is $3,000 per week.  

Essential Functions: 

• Support the LitOps on mission-critical initiatives requiring detailed analysis and problem solving. 

• Own at least one major LitOps project over the course of their summer position and work independently to evaluate and suggest solutions on the business question.  

• Perform legal research and analysis to help guide strategic decision making on case operations. 

• Understand, analyze, and report on large, dispersed data sets. 

• Coordinate with LitOps colleagues, attorneys, and operations professionals on workstreams in support of Keller Postman’s litigation campaigns such as client-outreach, records-collection, evidence-review, and others. 

• Support the design of client-facing apps, forms, and communications. 

• Other duties as assigned. 

Required Skills and Abilities: 

• Currently enrolled JD-MBA student between their first and second, second and third, or third and fourth (where applicable) years of graduate school. 

• An understanding of the law and legal concepts central to mass litigation such as evidence and torts. 

• A structured, analytical, and curious intellect with quantitative instincts and an understanding of basic statistical concepts. 

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 

• Excellent oral and written communication skills. 

• Strong time-management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities. 

• Comfort and experience working in a fast-paced, demanding environment. 

• Comfort working both independently and as part of a team. 

• Proficiency (which is more than familiarity) with Microsoft Excel. 

 Education/Experience: 

• Bachelor’s degree. 

• Currently enrolled in a JD-MBA program. 

• At least 1 year of experience at a consulting firm is preferred. 

• At least 2+ years of experience in an analytical role.
