About the Role 
 

The Library Officer (Patron Engagement) plays an important role in supporting the University's learning, teaching and research activities through the delivery of high-quality frontline customer service. Working across a variety of service channels, you will assist students and staff in accessing library resources, navigating University systems and making the most of Library spaces and services.

As the Library Officer (Patron Engagement), you will also be responsible for:

  • Providing excellent customer service through phone, email and face-to-face enquiries.

  • Assisting students and staff to access and use Library resources, services and spaces.

  • Supporting students with Learning Management System enquiries and referring complex matters to specialist teams.

  • Creating engaging social media content and contributing to initiatives that improve the user experience.

This position makes a significant contribution to the University’s strategic plan to "Changing 10 million lives, Every One Matters", by 2035 through delivering responsive and accessible library services that support student success, learning and engagement across the University community. By fostering a student-centred approach and collaborating closely with colleagues to reduce barriers to information, resources and services, this role embodies the Flinders values of being Student Centric and Stronger Together.

Prescribed Conditions for Employment
 

Appointment to this role is conditional on the completion of required pre-employment checks and declarations, each of which must be satisfactory to the University. This includes: 

  • Flinders University will require a current completed Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and Gender Based Violence Declaration which is satisfactory to the University. The contract of Employment is conditional upon the receipt of these completed compliance checks. A disclosable outcome will not automatically disqualify a candidate from consideration. Each case will be assessed on its individual merits and relevance to the inherent requirements of the role.

    • Demonstrated effective to well-developed written and interpersonal communication skills and presentation skills.
