Your next career opportunity 
You will lead innovative statistical research for omics, developing methods that transform complex genomic and microbiome data.
You will teach and supervise across statistics and data science, while collaborating with world class experts through MIG.

What you will deliver: 

  • Lead an independent, high impact research programme in statistical methods for high dimensional omics and related data.

  • Publish in leading statistics and computational biology venues, and actively seek competitive external research funding.

  • Design and deliver engaging undergraduate and postgraduate subjects in statistics, data science, and applied mathematics.

  • Supervise and mentor honours, MSc and PhD students, supporting their development as independent researchers.

  • Contribute to School, Faculty and MIG leadership, governance, outreach and engagement activities.

You may be a great fit if you: 

  • Hold a PhD or equivalent in statistics or a closely related quantitative discipline.

  • Bring a strong publication record in statistical methodology or computational biology, relative to career stage.

  • Develop novel statistical methods for high dimensional or complex biological data, including genomics or transcriptomics.

  • Demonstrate success securing competitive research funding and building national or international collaborations.

  • Excel in designing and teaching statistics or data science subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

  • Value inclusive, collaborative academic environments and contribute positively to School and Faculty service.

Your new team – School of Mathematics and Statistics
You will join the School of Mathematics and Statistics, one of Australia’s premier centres for mathematical sciences.
Based at Melbourne Integrative Genomics, you will work alongside statisticians, biologists and computing experts tackling omics challenges.
Within the Faculty of Science, you will access outstanding infrastructure, supportive leadership, and rich interdisciplinary collaborations.
