ROLE SUMMARY

Within it, the Learning Effectiveness, Architecture & Products team connects every learning program, product, and platform into one cohesive, measurable system — meeting customer-facing learners where they are and ensuring every learning experience ladders to business impact.

The Learning & Capability Architecture Lead is the steward of that system’s foundation. This role designs, owns, and governs the role-based competency and learning architecture — the standardized taxonomy connecting competencies, sub-competencies, skills, and curricula across every commercial customer-facing role — making capability visible, consistent, and measurable enterprise-wide. As a key voice to the business and to internal subject matter experts, the Lead owns the blueprint of what is available — and what the learning experience looks like — for each priority commercial customer-facing role, carrying the senior standing to hold the standard and ensure conformity across teams. Acting as the single point of accountability for the architecture, the Lead partners with subject matter experts who own role-based competency models, giving their content one coherent structure to plug into, and serves senior stakeholders as the definitive reference for what learning exists, what is genuinely incremental, and where the portfolio should evolve next.

The role works closely with the Team Lead and cross-functionally with training delivery leads, content and enablement partners, measurement and analytics colleagues, and digital teams — supported by dedicated delivery capacity for architecture build and maintenance. This strategic leader will operate in a matrixed environment that requires agility, the ability to see patterns across roles and portfolios, and modeling “lightspeed” behaviors. The individual should possess a combination of design thinking, governance discipline, analytical fluency, and excellent communication and visualization abilities to help the team achieve our broader capability aspiration, deliver on our mission and vision, and support aligned business objectives.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design and maintain the standardized taxonomy that defines how competencies, sub-competencies, skills and learning curricula relate and ladder up across all commercial customer-facing roles.
• Build and map the learning architecture — role-based views and cross-role views showing which curricula serve which competencies, how depth progresses from foundational to advanced, and what the learning experience looks like for each priority role.
• Serve as the architecture’s steward: govern the standard, arbitrate structural questions between role-based competency models, and ensure new content is mapped into the taxonomy as it is created.
• Partner directly with subject matter experts who own role-based competency models — providing the structural framework and feeding back structured insight on content reuse, gaps and where the taxonomy should evolve.
• Make the architecture visible and legible to stakeholders as the single point of reference for what exists, what is genuinely incremental, and what should be upgraded or refreshed.
• Advise on delivery-modality fit and link the architecture to measurement — defining and validating correlations between learning, competency attainment and business outcomes, and generating content-impact insight over time.
• Maintain version control and change governance so the structure evolves coherently — executed day-to-day through dedicated delivery capacity working to this role’s standard.
  

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• BA/BS degree required.
• A minimum of 8+ years of experience in learning & development, organizational capability-building, enablement or operations, ideally in a commercial or field-facing organization.
• Demonstrated ability to design and govern taxonomies or structured frameworks at scale — role-based competency architectures, skills frameworks or curriculum design.
• Working fluency in UX and CX design, learning measurement and analytics; able to define and validate learning-to-outcome correlations with a measurement function.
• Strong cross-functional leadership experience and partnership skills; able to work with subject matter experts and content owners without owning the content itself.
• Executive presence and ability to influence senior stakeholders internally and externally.
• Strong visual and stakeholder communication skills — able to translate complex structure into artifacts senior stakeholders act on.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's degree.
• Life sciences or pharmaceutical commercial field experience.
• Experience directing matrixed or dedicated delivery capacity.
• Experience with Pfizer learning platforms and the broader commercial ecosystem.
• Relevant certifications (learning architecture, skills-framework, or measurement methods).

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $189,200.00 to $315,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
