At Rehire, we are supporting the launch of a new humanitarian immigration law practice in Houston, Texas, and we are looking for a Lead Immigration Attorney to become the legal leader and face of the practice.
This is a unique opportunity for an attorney who wants more than a traditional associate role. The selected professional will join the firm at its founding stage, take ownership of its legal practice, and have the operational, marketing, intake, and administrative infrastructure needed to focus primarily on clients and legal strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the firm’s humanitarian immigration practice, with a primary focus on Removal Defense.
Manage cases involving EOIR proceedings, Asylum, VAWA, T-Visas, and other humanitarian immigration matters.
Represent clients throughout immigration proceedings and prepare legal strategies for each case.
Attend hearings, court proceedings, and other required legal appointments.
Visit detention centers when required, with travel-related expenses covered by the company.
Conduct consultations with qualified prospective clients and participate in the final engagement/closing stage.
Ensure cases, filings, deadlines, and legal documentation are handled accurately and efficiently.
Provide legal direction as the practice grows and potentially support the future expansion of the legal team.
Help establish high standards, processes, and best practices for a newly launched immigration practice.
Requirements:
Active license to practice law in Texas.
Professional experience in U.S. Immigration Law.
Experience with Removal Defense / EOIR proceedings strongly preferred.
Knowledge and experience with humanitarian immigration matters such as Asylum, VAWA, T-Visas, or related cases.
Fluent Spanish is mandatory, with the ability to conduct consultations and professional conversations entirely in Spanish.
Strong client-facing and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to manage sensitive and complex immigration cases with professionalism and empathy.
Strong organizational skills and ability to independently manage an active caseload.
Entrepreneurial mindset and interest in helping build a legal practice from its early stages.
Availability to work full-time and travel to detention centers or other locations when cases require it.
About the Position:
· Location: Onsite. Houston, Texas.
· Work schedule: Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
