Job Summary
This position will be based at the Department of Sociology. The Knowledge Translation Manager will work under the direction of the Principal Investigator (Dr. Lindsey Richardson) to design and develop an integrated knowledge mobilization and exchange strategy for a study investigating substance use, work, and well-being in trades and construction, with specific attention to knowledge transfer to community stakeholders and targeting occupational health, labour policy (e.g. workplace drug policy, return-to-work policy), clinical guidelines, health system implementation and programme development.

Organizational Status
The Knowledge Translation Manager will report primarily to Principal Investigator (PI), Dr. Lindsey Richardson and will work closely with the project Co-PI , Dr. Christopher McLeod (School of Population and Public Health), clinicians, public servants and community partners. This position is located at the British Columbia Centre on Substance Use and can involve a blend of in-person and remote work arrangements.

Work Performed
Job responsibilities will include:

·      Developing, print, social media, and web-based materials, including clinical guidance documents for provincial and national dissemination and employer best practice resources.

·      Developing and disseminating knowledge products (e.g., research summaries, infographics, factsheets, pocket guides, and practical resources) to address the needs of diverse stakeholders, including workers, employers, labour organizations, and clinicians.

·      Managing engagement with multiple Community Advisory Groups, including developing engagement strategies, planning and implementing consultation processes, leading consultations, identifying key priorities and determining appropriate follow-up actions;

·      Building, maintaining, and strengthening relationships with internal and external key stakeholders;

Consequence of Error/Judgement
This position requires working with a diverse team of academics, policy makers, stakeholders and community members. The consequences of errors could include: compromised trust with community partners, delayed completion of work, and the failure of ongoing knowledge translation projects. This would impact the credibility of the PI and other research team investigators and compromise the impact of the project.

The incumbent’s work will be reviewed against task objectives and conformity to standards, including the accurate translation of research concepts and professional collaboration with project stakeholders.
