■ Main Responsibilities

This role is responsible for leading Japan tax compliance and governance activities while supporting business growth through close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The position requires both strong technical expertise and the ability to drive cross-functional initiatives in a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual tax accounting and financial tax reporting processes
• Manage and ensure timely preparation and filing of Japanese tax returns, including corporate tax, consumption tax, withholding tax, and other local taxes (including JCFC and BEPS2 compliance)
• Handle tax audits, inquiries, and negotiations with tax authorities, including the National Tax Agency and local tax offices
• Strengthen and enhance tax governance, internal controls, and end-to-end tax processes
• Partner with global Tax Business Partners to provide expert insights from both technical and operational perspectives
• Lead tax-related projects, including tax incentive applications and new business initiatives
• Monitor tax law and regulatory developments, assess business impacts, and recommend appropriate actions
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as Accounting, Legal, Transfer Pricing, Treasury, M&A, and HR

■ Qualifications (Required)

• Professional Qualifications: Professional Japanese tax and accountancy  qualifications.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Japanese tax within a corporate or multinational accounting firm environment
• Proven leadership experience with a hands-on approach to managing operations
• Strong project management skills, including coordination with multiple stakeholders and external vendors
• Ability to build strong relationships with internal teams, external vendors, and tax authorities
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English

• Experience working in a multinational or corporate environment
• Knowledge or experience in international tax matters such as BEPS or transfer pricing
• Experience in leading tax-related projects or supporting new business initiatives
