The Reserve Bank of Australia is seeking experienced Cyber Security Architects to support a range of strategic technology and cyber security initiatives, including identity modernisation, vulnerability management and hardening, AI enablement and governance, and other enterprise technology projects. Working within a high-performing Cyber Architecture team, you will partner with business and technology stakeholders to design secure, resilient and practical solutions that support the Bank's strategic objectives. Successful candidates may be aligned to specific initiatives based on their skills, experience and business priorities. 

About the role

As an IT Cyber Security Architect, you will provide security architecture leadership across projects and technology initiatives, ensuring security is embedded throughout the solution lifecycle and aligned with the Bank's strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

• Work with project teams and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into secure and practical technology solutions.
• Lead the development of security architectures, risk assessments and other design artefacts for projects and technology initiatives.
• Partner with project teams, business stakeholders, solution architects and engineers to develop secure and practical technology solutions.
• Provide security architecture guidance across identity, data, application, infrastructure, cloud and emerging technology domains.
• Promote secure-by-design practices and the adoption of modern security capabilities and controls.
• Identify, assess and communicate cyber security risks and the associated security controls to project teams, stakeholders and governance forums.
• Ensure solutions align with the Bank's security standards, enterprise architecture principles and regulatory obligations.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of cyber security standards, patterns, reference architectures and reusable design assets.
• Support continuous improvement of the Bank's cyber security architecture practices and processes. 

About You

You are an experienced cyber security professional with strong architecture, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills. You are passionate about helping organisations deliver secure business outcomes and enjoy working across diverse technology initiatives within a complex enterprise environment.

Technical Knowledge and Experience

You will possess experience in several of the following areas:

• Security architecture and risk assessment within medium to large enterprise environments.
• Identity and Access Management (IAM), including authentication, authorisation, privileged access management, identity governance and administration.
• Customer and workforce identity platforms, including modern cloud-based identity solutions.
• Vulnerability management, exposure management and security hardening practices.
• Security tooling and platforms such as Microsoft Defender, Tenable, ServiceNow SecOps, GitHub Advanced Security, or similar technologies.
• Cloud security architecture, particularly within Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Application, API and data security principles.
• Security assessment, threat modelling and technology risk management.
• Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI and the secure adoption of AI-enabled technologies.
• Zero Trust principles and modern cyber security architectures.

Architecture & Consulting Experience

You will also demonstrate:

• Proven experience delivering security architecture outcomes within complex enterprise environments.
• Strong understanding of cyber security controls, technology risk management and governance processes.
• Experience interpreting and applying security frameworks and standards such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS Controls and COBIT.
• Excellent communication (oral and written), stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• A pragmatic, risk-based approach to balancing security, business and technology outcomes.
• Experience collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, SABSA, TOGAF, GIAC or equivalent are highly regarded.

• Microsoft certifications relating to AI, Identity, Data or Defender technologies are desirable.
