Role Purpose
The Senior Manager, IT Operations and AI is a senior technical role within the x15 Core Technology team, responsible for helping shape and execute strategy across technology operations, resilience, AI and shared services.
The role combines strategic direction with deep technical expertise to build on existing capabilities and services that enable Ventures to operate effectively while retaining agency and autonomy.
The role leads x15’s approach to Incident Management, Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), helps define the strategy and direction for technology operations, resilience and shared services. The role leads and supports the AI Delivery function, providing the direction, technical guidance and development required to translate AI strategy into delivery.
Key Accountabilities
Technology Operations & Resilience
- Help define and execute x15’s strategy for technology operations, operational resilience and reliability.
- Lead and evolve x15’s Incident Management capability, including operating model, governance, tooling and reporting.
- Provide hands-on technical and operational leadership during major incidents, coordinating investigation, response, escalation and recovery.
- Establish and mature approaches to Business Continuity Management (BCM), Disaster Recovery (DR) and operational resilience.
- Drive SRE practices across x15 to improve reliability, observability, recoverability and operational performance.
- Lead post-incident reviews and translate technical and operational learnings into sustainable improvements.
AI Strategy & Delivery
- Set and evolve x15’s strategy and roadmap for AI adoption, aligned with organisational priorities and Group direction.
- Lead and support the AI Delivery role, providing clear direction, coaching, prioritisation and technical guidance.
- Support the AI Delivery role to translate strategy into initiatives, manage dependencies and deliver outcomes across x15.
- Maintain strong technical knowledge of emerging AI technologies and identify opportunities for adoption across x15.
- Provide technical oversight and guidance across the evaluation, implementation and scaling of AI capabilities.
- Partner across Technology, Cyber, Risk and Group teams to enable safe and scalable AI adoption.
Shared Technology Services
- Help define the strategy and future direction for x15’s shared technology services.
- Provide technical product ownership for a portfolio of shared services, platforms and capabilities.
- Set roadmaps and priorities and guide technical decisions across the service lifecycle.
- Ensure services are reliable, secure, resilient, cost-effective and aligned with evolving technology needs.
- Use service performance, operational data and stakeholder feedback to drive investment and continuous improvement.
Stakeholder, Vendor & Third-Party Management
- Build strong relationships across Core Technology, Ventures, Group technology teams and senior stakeholders.
- Lead technical engagement with strategic vendors and third-party providers and hold partners accountable for service and delivery outcomes.
- Provide clear reporting and insights across operations, resilience, incidents, shared services and AI.
- Navigate complex technical dependencies and influence outcomes across teams without direct authority.
Experience & Capabilities
- Strong technical background across technology operations, cloud, platforms or software engineering, with experience leading major incidents and complex recovery activities.
- Experience across Incident Management, SRE, Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery and operational resilience.
- Strong understanding of enterprise AI, AI-assisted engineering and adoption, with practical experience using OpenAI ChatGPT, Anthropic Claude Code or equivalent platforms.
- Experience with operational and delivery platforms including PagerDuty and Atlassian Jira.
- Experience developing technology strategy and providing technical product ownership for shared services or platforms.
- Strong people leadership, vendor and third-party management, stakeholder engagement and executive communication skills.
