Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin–Platteville is seeking applications for an Involvement Coordinator – Programming and Leadership! This position coordinates and supports key programs and initiatives within the Markee Pioneer Student Center, including Student Senate advising, Markee departmental marketing, and Markee and university-wide programming. The Involvement Coordinator serves as a liaison between student organizations, campus departments, and other university partners while promoting compliance with university policies, procedures, and risk management protocols. This role also utilizes technology resources, social media platforms, and software applications to enhance student engagement and program operations and supports student participation in major policy and decision-making processes in accordance with Chapter 36.09(5) of the Wisconsin State Statutes.

This position supports the mission and goals of the Markee Pioneer Student Center, the University of Wisconsin–Platteville, and the Universities of Wisconsin. This is a full-time, 12-month, benefit and paid leave eligible position with a salary of $48,000 per year.

Key Job Responsibilities:


Student Senate

  • Advise and supervise all Student Senate committees.
  • Advise the Student Senate Executive Board.
  • Supervise all Student Senate programs.
  • Act as a liaison between the university and Student Senate.
  • Advise Student Senate on implementing policies and procedures.
  • Develop and monitor budgets and expenditures.
  • Provide guidance and best use practices for connecting student involvement experiences with learning outcomes.

Markee departmental marketing and social media

  • Assist with Design Services supervision and management.
  • Develop and implement social media strategies.
  • Develop initiatives to ensure compliance with accessibility legal regulations.

Markee departmental programming/training and university-wide programming/training

  • Assist in Campus Programming and Relations events and initiatives.
  • Coordinate Markee departmental “passive programming” initiatives.
  • Coordinate training for student organizations regarding event policies and procedures (facility use agreements, risk management, dining, catering, self-catering, Design Services).
  • Coordinate Markee departmental student employment initiatives and training
  • Assist with the university speaker/performer contract process.
  • Assist with coordinating and planning major Markee and university events such as Welcome Weekend, Homecoming, etc.

Student Involvement and Development

  • Support a collaborative and comprehensive student development program including student activities, student leadership development, FSL, shared student governance and campus wide student programming.
  • Provide guidance and advisement to student groups and student leaders regarding the planning and development of programs furthering the university’s mission.
  • Be knowledgeable of risk management practices (safety and liability issues) related to programming; work with the campus risk management officer to ensure campus policies related to safety are created as well as enforced.

Other Duties

  • Serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) as it relates to the Campus Safety Act (Clery Act).
  • Participate in assessment initiatives to provide best practices and services to students.
  • Involves regular work expectations outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Support other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations, including necessary training and drills.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum one year experience in student affairs.

  • Strong administrative skills, including high proficiency with MS Suite.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret policies.
