Ready to take your career global? Join the Rolls-Royce international engineering internship and be a part of a rewarding 12-week experience where you will gain a breadth of hands-on technical experience, engage with engineering leaders and contribute to real -world project problem solving - all while immersing yourself in a new culture. 

Thermofluid Systems is responsible for air, oil, fuel and thermal management system design, verification, and qualification, and for component temperature prediction, across the whole Indianapolis product portfolio. Engineers in the group are active throughout the product lifecycle, from new engine concept evaluation, through design, development and certification, to in-service product support.

What you’ll be doing:

• Participating in a 12-week Engineering Internship, through real-world assignments working on exciting and varied projects in an engineering capability 
• Using data, technology and AI to improve processes 
• Working under the guidance of an experienced engineer while also receiving coaching and support from mentors in the US and UK 
• Developing valuable, transferable skills through varied daily tasks and support from experienced professionals across the organization 
• Learning to use one of the Thermofluids analysis tools (SPAN, SC03, CFD, etc).
• Completing a Thermofluids analysis task and generating a report documenting the task and results.
• Improving a process, tool, or method and creating any required training materials to share the improvement
  

Who we’re looking for:

• Working towards an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering and/or related degree  
• A strong passion for the future of technology 
• A willingness to work flexibly and travel between locations: in most cases, you’ll be able to meet the requirements in the location you are recruited to, however, we may need you to be flexible and travel between sites during or for your internship
• An open-minded, curious, and agile approach to work and career development

Minimum GPA: 3.0  

Work authorization eligibility: To be considered, you must also be a U.S. Citizen. 

This internship is funded by the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech through an endowment grant given to the selected students. All communications surrounding pay and auxiliary benefits will be presented at time of offer from each university. 

Must be a student graduating between December 2027 and May 2028 at the University of Virginia or Virginia Tech to be eligible for this internship
