Ko ake mahi - What you’ll do

Join us as an Information Analyst and help shape the future of cancer care through data-driven insights. You’ll turn raw data into powerful stories that guide decisions at Te Aho o Te Kahu. From analysing cancer datasets to creating interactive data dashboards, your work will make a real impact.

You’ll collaborate with our sector partners, tailor information products, and publish high-priority statistics that matter. Using your analytical skills and project know-how, you’ll deliver clear, actionable insights while fostering strong relationships across health agencies.

If you’re passionate about transforming data into change, this is your chance to make a difference. Join a team committed to equity, innovation, and improving cancer outcomes for all.

  • Deliver high‑quality analysis and insights: Use advanced analytical tools—including SNOMED CT ontology-based analytics—to extract, analyse, interpret, and report on cancer‑related datasets.
  • Create accessible information products: Develop and publish data products such as reports, analyses, and interactive R Shiny dashboards for internal and external audiences.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with clients and sector partners to understand their needs, develop fit‑for‑purpose knowledge products, and ensure information is clear, accurate, and meaningful.
  • Advance data quality and understanding: Build deep knowledge of key cancer datasets, support stakeholders in interpreting published information, and ensure data is processed, cleansed, and validated to the highest standard.
  • Strengthen equity and system improvement: Embed equity considerations and Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations in all work, contribute to improving D&A tools and processes, and support monitoring frameworks that inform key programmes and service development.

Ko pūkenga - What you’ll bring

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (or equivalent experience) and strong analytical capability, with the ability to interpret and present complex numerical data clearly.
  • Proficiency in SQL, R, or Python, with a preference for experience in R/R Shiny; knowledge of SNOMED CT (training provided) and AI/ML concepts is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills, including gathering requirements and translating technical insights for diverse audiences.
  • Strong project planning, time management, and data quality skills—able to cleanse, validate, and deliver high‑quality analysis to deadlines.
  • An understanding of Māori tikanga and kawa, and a commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equity principles in all work.
