Job Summary:

JOB DESCRIPTION – HR Business Partner

Location: Athens, Greece (hybrid)

Division: EMEA Region

Line Manager: Senior Director, HR, EMEA

Contract Terms: Permanent, 40 hours per week

THE TEAM

Reporting to the Senior Director, HR, EMEA, the HR Business Partner provides practical, commercially aware HR support to employees and people managers across an assigned group of EMEA markets. The EMEA HR team delivers support across the employee lifecycle, helping teams apply consistent people practices while responding appropriately to local market needs.

THE JOB

This HR Business Partner role is the primary HR contact for Greece and a portfolio of additional EMEA markets. The role manages competing priorities across markets, provides day-to-day HR advice, and supports the delivery of global and regional people programmes in line with local requirements. The market portfolio may evolve in response to business needs.

The role works closely with HR colleagues, Centres of Excellence, Shared Services and relevant business stakeholders to coordinate effective, consistent delivery. It does not include people-management responsibility or ownership of regional HR strategy.

You will be a clear communicator, practical problem-solver and trusted HR partner, able to translate established HR policies and processes into useful guidance for employees and people managers across more than one market.

You will help ensure that local HR practices are applied consistently, remain aligned with applicable employment requirements, and follow global and regional policies. You will identify risks, seek advice when needed and escalate matters outside your remit.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Planning & Execution

  • Deliver day-to-day HR support across an assigned portfolio of markets, balancing priorities and meeting agreed service expectations.
  • Apply global, regional and local HR policies, processes and programmes in a way that is practical and relevant to each market.
  • Support workforce, organisational and people-planning activity by providing local insight, data and implementation support.
  • Provide clear, accurate advice on routine people matters and employee lifecycle processes, escalating complex or high-risk issues appropriately.
  • Support managers and employees with core employee lifecycle activity, including onboarding, performance and development processes.
  • Build effective working relationships with managers and employees across the assigned markets.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with HR colleagues, Centres of Excellence and Shared Services to coordinate the effective local delivery of HR programmes.
  • Share relevant market insight and practical feedback to help improve HR processes and employee experience.
  • Support the connection between market needs and global or regional HR processes, escalating conflicts or gaps where necessary.
  • Contribute to cross-market HR initiatives, ensuring local requirements and operational impacts are understood.

Change and Process Improvement

  • Support managers through people-process changes, providing clear guidance and referring complex matters to the appropriate HR expert.
  • Contribute to HR improvement projects, including process optimisation and digitalisation, within the scope of the role.
  • Support performance-management processes and promote consistent application of agreed frameworks.

Talent and Development

  • Support the delivery of onboarding, development, engagement and retention activity for the assigned client groups.
  • Provide input to talent and succession discussions, using local knowledge and following established processes.
  • Coordinate with relevant HR colleagues to support talent processes across the matrix organisation.

Governance and Compliance

  • Apply HR policies and processes in accordance with local employment requirements and global standards; seek specialist advice where needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and support HR risk-management and audit-readiness activity.
  • Manage routine employee-relations matters and escalate complex, sensitive or high-risk cases promptly.
  • Ensure onboarding administration and Workday transactions are in line with global processes.

Recruitment Support

  • Partner with hiring managers and HR colleagues to support recruitment activity, including approved process guidance and recommendations.
  • Support job analysis and job level review activity in line with established organisational design and recruitment processes.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (or TECHNICAL SKILLS)

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience as an HR Advisor, HR Generalist or HR Business Partner, with sound working knowledge of core HR processes.
  • Experience working with employment regulations and, where relevant, collective bargaining arrangements.
  • Experience supporting employees and managers across more than one country or market, with the ability to prioritise competing needs.
  • Ability to work effectively across different cultures and adapt communication to local contexts.
  • Working knowledge of HR best practice across the employee lifecycle, with confidence to seek specialist guidance when required.
  • HR qualification (CIPD or local equivalent), or equivalent relevant HR experience.
  • Excellent spoken and written Greek and English. Additional languages are an advantage.
  • Strong PC skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and in-house HRIS systems).
  • Comfortable using digital and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and processes.

YOU (BEHAVIOURAL SKILLS)

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently while knowing when to seek support or escalate.
  • Adaptable, maintains a positive, solutions‑oriented mindset and remains productive in dynamic or fast‑paced environments.
  • Sound judgement and practical business awareness, applying HR guidance appropriately within the remit of the role.
  • Strong prioritisation and boundary management: able to manage a multi-market workload, communicate trade-offs and focus on the most important work.
  • Ability to inspire confidence; quickly develop and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and clients.
  • Reliable and delivery-focused, with a strong commitment to accurate, timely and high-quality work.
  • Team player, works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve shared objectives, builds positive and trusting relationships, contributes actively to team efforts, and supports others to ensure collective success.
