About this role in the team:

We’re looking for a Head of Risk – Singapore to lead risk management for BVNK’s Singapore business and play a critical role in supporting our continued growth and regulatory footprint across the region.

Reporting to our VP, Group Risk & Governance, you’ll be the senior risk leader for Singapore, responsible for ensuring we have a robust and effective risk management framework that meets local regulatory expectations while remaining aligned with BVNK’s global approach.

You’ll work closely with senior leadership, the Singapore business and teams across Risk, Compliance, Financial Crime, Legal, Product and Operations. You’ll provide independent oversight and challenge, ensure our key risks are appropriately identified and managed, and help embed a strong risk culture as we scale.

This is a senior, hands-on role requiring someone who can move comfortably between strategy and execution – from working with senior stakeholders and regulators to maintaining risk frameworks, risk appetite, RCSAs, KRIs and entity-level risk reporting.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:

• Own and oversee the risk management framework for BVNK’s Singapore entity, ensuring it meets local regulatory expectations and remains aligned with BVNK’s Group risk framework.
• Partner with the VP, Group Risk & Governance and senior leadership to ensure an effective, consistent and scalable approach to risk management.
• Establish, maintain and continuously enhance the Singapore entity’s risk appetite, policies and supporting risk management processes.
• Lead the Singapore Enterprise Wide RIsk Assessment (EWRA), ensuring material risks are identified, assessed, monitored and appropriately mitigated.
• Develop and embed Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and other risk metrics to provide timely visibility of BVNK Singapore’s risk profile and exposures.
• Provide independent second-line oversight and challenge to the business, ensuring risks associated with growth, new products, partnerships and operational changes are appropriately understood and managed.
• Ensure appropriate risk governance and reporting is in place, including clear escalation of risks that fall outside agreed risk appetite.
• Support engagement with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and other relevant regulatory stakeholders on risk-related matters, including regulatory requests and reviews.
• Identify and assess emerging risks and regulatory developments which could impact BVNK’s Singapore operations and ensure appropriate mitigation plans are established.
• Work closely with colleagues across Group Risk, Compliance, Financial Crime, Legal, Product and Operations to ensure effective risk management is embedded across the business.
• Champion a strong and proactive risk culture, helping first-line risk owners understand their responsibilities and strengthening risk ownership throughout the Singapore business.
• Contribute to the continued development of BVNK’s Group risk frameworks, sharing local expertise and ensuring Singapore remains appropriately integrated into our global approach.

What we need from you:

• Significant experience in risk management within a regulated financial services environment, ideally within payments, e-money, fintech, banking or digital assets.
• Strong knowledge of the Singapore financial services regulatory environment and experience operating within MAS-regulated businesses.
• Proven experience developing, implementing and maintaining Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) frameworks, policies and processes.
• Strong understanding of risk appetite frameworks, risk taxonomies, risk registers, risk assessment, KRIs and risk governance.
• Experience providing effective second-line risk oversight and challenge within a regulated organisation.
• Experience working with regulators and senior governance forums, with the ability to communicate complex risk matters clearly and confidently.
• Strong experience preparing risk reporting and papers for senior management, executive committees and/or Boards.
• Demonstrated ability to make sound, risk-based decisions and balance regulatory expectations with the needs of a fast-growing business.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to influence and challenge senior stakeholders when required.
• Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy and managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving and evolving environment.
• A collaborative leadership style and the ability to build a strong risk culture across both risk teams and the wider business.
