As Head of Risk, you’ll establish, lead and maintain Sky Ireland’s independent risk management function. You’ll design and embed a proportionate Risk Management Framework, provide robust second-line oversight and challenge, and advise the management team on risk profile and strategy. This role will play a key part in ensuring effective risk governance, supporting Sky Ireland’s regulatory obligations and delivering good customer outcomes. 

What you’ll do 

• Design, implement and maintain the Risk Management Framework, supporting policies, risk taxonomy, governance, reporting and escalation arrangements, ensuring they remain proportionate and aligned with Irish regulatory obligations and supervisory expectations. 

• Lead oversight of material risks, including credit, conduct and consumer protection, operational, outsourcing and third-party, regulatory compliance, strategic and reputational risk, with clear escalation of emerging risks, breaches and control weaknesses. 

• Develop and maintain the Risk Appetite Framework, metrics, triggers and thresholds, supporting the management team to set risk appetite and monitor performance against approved limits. 

• Provide independent second-line oversight and constructive challenge across key decisions, products, customer journeys, outsourcing, strategic initiatives, incidents, policy exceptions, systems and business change. 

• Deliver timely, decision-useful risk reporting, dashboards and key risk indicators, monitoring incidents, complaints, arrears, impairments, customer outcomes, remediation actions and areas of residual risk. 

• Oversee outsourcing, third-party risk and operational resilience, while promoting strong risk ownership, accountability, training and awareness across the organisation. 

• Lead and develop a small team within the independent risk function, creating clear accountability and supporting high performance. 

What you’ll bring 

Essential criteria: 

• Significant senior risk management experience within an Irish regulated environment, preferably including financial services experience  

• Strong understanding of the Irish regulatory framework, with expertise across risk management, governance, regulatory frameworks, credit risk, conduct and consumer protection, operational risk, outsourcing and operational resilience. 

• Demonstrable experience establishing, embedding or enhancing risk frameworks, governance structures, risk appetite, reporting and controls in a regulated organisation. 

• Experience providing robust independent challenge on products, customer journeys, credit decisioning, outsourcing and business change, with a clear focus on good customer outcomes. 

• Credible experience engaging with boards, board committees, executive management, senior stakeholders and regulators, supported by excellent influencing and communication skills. 

• Strong independent judgement, strategic and commercial awareness, resilience and a collaborative leadership style, with proven ability to build and develop high-performing teams. 

Desirable skills and experience: 

• A relevant professional qualification in risk, finance, audit, compliance, law, governance or a related discipline. 

• Detailed knowledge of the Consumer Protection Code 2025 / Standards for Business and their application to customer outcomes, communications, complaints, errors and remediation. 

• In the future this role may be required to undertake a regulated Pre-Approval Controlled Function (PCF) role in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.

How you’ll work 

We’ve adopted a hybrid working approach to give more flexibility on where and how we work. The hybrid working expectations for this role are three days in the office per week. Candidates must be able to work from our Dublin office on this hybrid basis.
